Do I Remove Carbon Filter When Using A Dechlorinator

+1   High quality carbon's beneficial qualities usually cease between 2-4 weeks, meaning they no longer are sufficient in removing chemicals and colourations from your tank.    If you were using carbon to remove tannin's or medications, keep this in mind, it will need replacing to have the...

    Kribensis

Definitely in pairs. They will breed non stop. If you had a pair with an extra male or female, it would surely be killed.  And in saying that, if the male or female feels their partner is a threat to the fry, they will kill them. I lost my female to that reason.    Other then that, they're a...

    Cichlid Re-scape!

So I'm finally putting the new rock in tomorrow! I'm undecided as to whether I should stick some Vallis in there or not? I'm reluctant to add it in later because it will be such a hassle to plant it! Would be much easier to plant when I'm placing rocks!    Any suggestions on the Vallis...

    T5 Vs T8 Lighting

Yeah I plan on getting a custom built 6x2x2 which i want fully planted, so I'll be looking at full on lighting. I wish i could afford LED's but I simply can't :(   And yeah, mine is all built into the hood. I like it because it makes everything look really neat and tidy, but a shame about the...

    T5 Vs T8 Lighting

Wow, that was a lot to take in.    So basically (correct me if I'm wrong), only the T5HO's are better then T8's, they penetrate deeper water? But they require electronic ballasts where as T8's use magnetic ballasts, making the T5's more efficient.    So, if I wanted to change the T8's in my...

    T5 Vs T8 Lighting

Hey guys,    I've been pondering this for a while and doing a bit of research but can't seem to get a clean cut answer.    I currently have an Aqua One 850 (165L) fully planted. The tank comes with 3 T8 globes. White, Blue and Pink.    For quite some time, I've been reading that T5's are better...

Angelfish In A 240 Litre Tank

What if you had a reaaally long tank, like 7-8ft? I'm assuming they would work something like GBR's where they claim a portion of the tank.  I'm not planning on doing it, just gaining some knowledge! I love the look of a group of Angels though, it's a shame they won't work in the long run.

What Should I Do With This?

I quite like the plastic rock to be honest. Has a lot of potential. Chuck some height in the back with plants, and some very small foreground ones, and that tank will be looking pretty darn good :)

    New Scape And Stocking

Your Java Fern looks fantastic. Very lush and healthy. Some low light plants I have had a lot of success with are, Hygrophilia Corymbosa, Hygrophilia Stricta, Cryptocoryne Wendtii, Amazon and Tropica Sword.  I would also suggest sticking a black backing on your tank, will really bring out the...

Angelfish In A 240 Litre Tank

Sorry to bust in on your thread Ukchris, but I'm learning from this also!   Can someone clarify for me, is it possible to keep a group of angels 4-6 happily? Is it one of those things where you may or may not have problems?

Max Number Of Fish In 150Litre Tank?

I would go for a pair of Kribensis. They'll love your tank! And a shoal of Cory's :) Perhaps Panda Cory's, they would look nice in there.  Like your tank by the way :)

    Stocking For A 60 Gallon

As mentioned, sand is the best way to go for Cory's, and I would highly recommend Sterbai's! Lovely little things they are.

    Stock Help

I agree ^^   You have chosen fish that prefer different ends of the pH scale.   Considering you already have tetra's in your tank, why not stick to varieties of them, and maybe a pair of Angels? They will look quite nice as a center piece in a tank that size.   What Tetra's do you already have...

    Stocking For 60L?

How about Honey Gourami's, Cory's, and a shoal of Hengel (Hengeli) Rasbora?   Although the blue on Neon's, would look pretty sweet against the Gourami's.
  26. Gidge

    Am I Fully Stocked?

I would be comfortable with putting the Neons in, but not the Gourami. Like Lunar said, make sure you monitor your water, and your filter is coping. Otherwise you will be up for more frequent water changes.

    Best Tank For African Cichlids?

Longer the better! They will love it. I have mine in a 420L/110G tank. Never gets boring watching them zoom from one end to the other.

    Re-Making My Community Tank

Firstly,   Substrate - Cory's much prefer sand, it is easier on their little noses, and they siphon it through their gills to get food. I find sand is a must for cory's. Sand also doesn't hold as much dirt and left over food as gravel does. Any dirt will simply lay on top, which is a breeze to...

    Pesky Snails!

Thanks for your advice, I'm going to google this guys. I've never heard of them before. Except Clown Loaches obviously haha.  I've just been googling. Just Made A "tree"

I had a dream about your tank last night!! It was exactly how I drew it, and it looked amazing :P  I personally think the Vallis needs to go on the right side. Your Lone Tree looks good as it is, and when the Java Fern grows, will look even better.

    Cichlid Re-scape!

    Just Made A "tree"

Like I said, there is def potential there, just need a few adjustments when you're ready     I tried to replicate the Vallis growing to the surface and bending over the tree etc. Also thought it would be a pretty neat idea, to have the vallis slanting in length the closer it got to your 'Lone...
