Dog question 9with a sad start)

All I needed to hear was that you are getting a rescue...THANK YOU I've no suggestions for breeds, because with rescues (at least in my experience, we have 3), you may not even know what you are getting until the day it happens..although nowadays, there ARE websites that feature nothing but...

    EMO's Eventual Aquaponic Thirty

Sounds like a plan...you can use practically anything to fasten that JF onto...nice sized rock, driftwood, anything to get (and keep) that rhizome exposed...I've had some fastened to coconut caves in the past LOL about the username...

    Mystery snail

Are there fish in the tank? Snails are scavengers, they'll eat whatever they can find, including fish food...in a well-established tank, they do fine with what is already there, but occasional fish food or blanched veggies will be enjoyed, as well

Cloudy Water (not another thread about it!)

It is possible to have water that is oversaturated with gasses, but causes no noticeable harm...temperature of newly added water is the key ingredient, as well as which gasses are involved. Years ago, before I knew better, I used the "feel" method when performing WCs...if the tap water "felt"...

Cloudy Water (not another thread about it!)

You might want to have a look at this: https://www.thesprucepets.com/how-to-treat-gas-bubble-disease-in-freshwater-fish-5074238 "Sudden changes in water temperature can cause bubbles to form since the partial pressure of a gas changes with water temperature. This is most common when you add...

Welcome to TFF Looks like it may be an injury...was the tank cycled before adding fish? Bettas really belong in a tank by themselves...what's the tank size?

    Is Something Wrong?

Hard to tell from these pics...
  24. Slaphppy7

Cloudy Water (not another thread about it!)

Not necessarily a bacterial bloom...could be microbubbles from dissolved gasses in your tap water Are you matching the tap temp to the tank temp as closely as possible when performing WCs? Any recent changes to your filter(s)? Do you vacuum the substrate weekly?
  25. Slaphppy7

Do you ever fast your fish?

I feed every 2 or 3 days, regardless of weekly WCs....fish don't need to eat every day, in the wild or in our tanks

  28. Slaphppy7

    Custom Filter!

I think you're in good shape...continue to monitor those params, and perform weekly WCs...
  29. Slaphppy7

    Custom Filter!

Looks like 0 ammonia, from what I see; and nitrAtes aren't too high, either. Are you shaking the 2nd nitrAte test kit solution like mad before adding to the test tube? If not, you will get erroneous results.

    Nerite Snails for Sale

Please explain what went on in my fish less cycle situation, and what now there's nitrate?

Yes, do read the water quality/treatment report you linked above; I haven't had time to view it today Most importantly, if your tap water is treated for safe drinking/cooking, we need to know if it's treated with chlorine, or if it's treated with chloramine...there's a difference between the...
