Yesterday I saw this beautiful windmill. Yes, Holland is also known for its windmills but the number of them has drastically decreased throughout the years.
But I just love this one…

Windmills are brilliant machines. Elegant, tough and totally mesmerising to watch all their cogs and shafts at work.....the smells of the wood...the creaking...magical.

There is a windmill just up the road from where I am, its beautiful

Windmills are nice, but they kill the birds 😐
I doubt that with the moderate speed of the wings of such a windmill... But yes, those wildmills that generate electricity are real bird killers...

It looks a bit like a kestrel - since the UK and Netherlands are so close, I assume you have kestrels there as well?

In the UK, kestrels are easy to spot as they hover in one place when looking for food. (Actually they fly into the wind at the same speed as the wind)

However coal burning gives off mercury which kills a whole lot more than birds and that's if we don't count the soot and etc. so until we all go house solar with a battery wall (which I could do and may yet), there is a necessary evil somewhere
