Your profile says you are housing them in 1 gallon tanks. Thats 4 litres roughly. A Betta ideally needs 25 litres of water to live a good life. Are they heated and filtered tanks?   EDIT: You've got a goldfish in with betta's. Goldfish are cold water fish, bettas are tropical

Thanks to everyone for their help over the past few weeks with Oliver, who had problems with his swim bladder. He's now back to normal, yay! And cheekier than ever. Every morning, I wake up to a seemingly empty tank - But then realise he's sat himself under a leaf in the bottom corner, and...

It seems he was just in too bad condition ashen I rescued him. He's in a better place now though

Sadly, Chance has passed away.

He's no longer able to move, tried to get him to eat some bloodworm, but to no effect.

He's now floating on his side, with his head slightly underwater. Gently put finger in tank and moved water, which would have made him move - but it didn't. He just sort of floated with the current. Only sign of life is his gills moving.

I've added aquarium salt to the tank yesterday, this didn't help. I've treated with internal bacteria.   Unfortunatly, he won't eat. So I can't feed him anything  - I've tried all the various fish foods we have, nothings even caught his attention.

I'm not sure on age, and no, no swings in Ph or temp

Been advised to put a post up here in order to recieve help in diagnosing Chance correctly. He's in a 28litre tank, with a filter, and heater at 80 degrees. He has plants to rest in, yet instead rests against the glass at the side of the tank.   His fins are clamped, which is slowly getting...

Tried feeding him this morning, but he just swam away from the food. He must be hungry by mow, is there anything I can do?

Oliver is in a new 30 litre tank which we had set up (: We added aquarium salt to the water, which perked him up the following day.   This morning he was able to swim around the tank normally, however I've noticed he's not really red anymore - more of a pale brown. Is this something I can sort?

The original price as £5, But I got him for £2 (Should have been free in my opinion, considering the state.)   I dont currently have any IAL. He's in a 30 litre tank, with gravel, plant, heater and filter. He can rest in the plant - but chooses to rest against the side of the tank for some reason.

I do hope he recovers enough for there to be some finnage (: As I have a good idea how he might look if he hadn't been attacked.

I really didn't want another Betta. I really, really didn't.   I had far too many tanks as it was..   So, after a lovely trip into town, I popped into pets at home to look at plants. I then wandered around to look at the various poorly kept Bettas.   And oh god. Meet Chance.   Link...

Second dose of medicine didn't do anything. Fed him some bloodworm today which he enjoyed. Aquarium salt didn't do much. He's perfectly sociable, just like the old Ollie, but he just can't move around very well.

Annd, Olivers back on his side. He's a little more responsive than before, but he's not able to keep his balance, and has become unsociable again.   I'm broke, and beginning to lose hope of ridding him of this. I was going to buy a tank like this, but decided the filter wasn't really apt for a betta tank. Stockings to cover it will reduce flow slightly, but will prevent the betta from getting his fins ripped (:

Find a way of warming water, put it into a bottle and float the bottles in the tanks to act as a temporary heater.

Platys have been removed. Oliver has less balance today - Floating on his side, Still alive though lol. Salt arrives tomorrow, so shall keep this topic updated (:   Also ordered a varied diet for him if he recovers, pellets all the time wasn't a good idea it seems.

The platy are going to be seperated tonight (: They'll go in the community tank (As I've been meaning to put them elsewhere anyway.) No chance of Oliver eating them, too big for him to munch on. They're roughly a little bigger than a ember tetra size. I'll try to post a picture asap

I feed Oliver Hikari pellets - But I've also read due to a change in ingrediants, wheat flour and MSG I believe, it can sometimes link to problems. His poop looked fine last time I noticed One thing I haven't been doing is 'soaking' pellets before hand. Only saw that today, how do you soak them...

I've got one in my community tank, so I'll take it out, rinse it etc, then put that in. But he can't actually come away from the surface.

He was the other day when it was bad, but  I havent really seen since as I've been at work. He's taking ALOT of air from the surface aswell, is that normal?

Olivers back on his side, unable to move much again. He cant even get a inch below the water. Water changes normally are every 6 days.   I dont know what I should do D: Im sure its swim bladder, he's got quite the belly on him currently

Yup, he's swimming fine now. I shall do :) Fingers crossed it doesnt come back!
