I'm posting this journal up in order to keep a record of Chance's recovery (if he does recover).
 
17th June:
- Purchased Chance, clamped fins, possible swim bladder disorder.
- Placed Chance in new home with mature filter media for fast cycle. Water levels fine. Temp 80.
 

 
20th June:
-Front fins now clamped up. Not eaten. (Picture doesnt show front fins very well, as he moves them too fast)

Did you get some IAL's or Betta Spa?
 
Can you tell us a little about his set up, do you have a picture of his tank?

Not able to get those at the moment due to finances ): Literally have no money whatsoever now.
However I have been using Stress Coat+ on water changes, and have now treated for internal bacteria due to swim bladder.
 
I'm currently at college, so can't get a picture, however..
His tank is a Aquastart 320, which is a 28litre tank. He has a heater with temp at 80, filter, gravel, and plants to rest in.
 
Little update:
21st June:
Front fins are now completely clamped. Still hasn't eaten. Finding it harder to keep balance.

Asides from the lack of being able to swim to the bottom, is there a chance this is Costia? o: Just wondering.

I am not familiar with Costia, but looking it up I came across this good overview.  I worm my fish with the Kusuri Wormer Plus which kills most things, but again if finances are tight this is expensive, retailing at just under a tenner.
 
May I suggest you call in to where you got him from and try and find out some more background.  E.g. how long did they have him there, where was he sourced from, did they do any treatments etc?
 
I would also recommend you post in the Tropical Fish Emergencies and see if anyone can assist with more in-depth knowledge of fish illnesses.  I have a new book and will scan through to see what I can find out if I get time.
 
Be aware that poor old Chance may have been damaged by poor conditions well before he came into your care.  All you can do is try your best, but sadly these fish are so mistreated in shipping that they are often reaching us in a poor state to start with.
 
I do hope he pulls through and we will all support you along his journey.  Main thing is pin-pointing what may be his issue, and without a specialized vet that maybe difficult.
 
Can you confirm he has somewhere he is resting i.e. in a plant or similar?  Check out Bob's retirement home for some ideas, alas sadly I am battling at present to save Bob, but will post elsewhere.

I'll try calling tonight, or tomorrow evening. Considering the stores bad reputation, I doubt they treated him at all - but will check.
 
Although Chance has plants on the surface to rest in, he chooses to prop himself up against the side of the tank, using the glass to keep himself balanced.

You did the best you could do with what you had.  He at least had a good home to rest in until he passed.  You should feel good for that.

Sorry about that Rei Rei, like wildbetta said, he had a lovely tank and cared for in his last days, much better than dying in the condition he was in at the store.
