I believe that we should try to keep the amount of wild caught species in our tanks to a minimum if it is not done for deliberate conservation. I am now mainly buying my fish from a store that mainly buys fish from other fish keepers. Obviously there are exceptions like discus, and cichlids...

Does anyone know anything about what fresh water fish can be found in Madagascar. And if they have made there way into the aquarium hobby. There are some really cool freshwater fish in Madagascar but I dont know all that much about them.

Corys are great, you wont regret getting them. But if you want more function kuhli loaches are better they are much better at cleaning.

In my experience Shrimp turn white when they die.

I am getting ready to get a new tank, which I plan to get a betta for. Due to the high temperature of the tank and the fact I want to make a dark water tank. I Am not sure what plants will do fine in the conditions.

Yep they are greedy and eat alot, I have to make sure I put food in in 2 places in my tank for both the danios and the tetras otherwise the danios eat all of it.

Guppies and bettas most likely will fight as they both have the tails and the guppies would cause aggression in the betta.

If you are based in the US, I hear college is very expensive. But personally I would go do some degree courses. thats a one year college course. It is very useful.

what sort of budget do you have, some of the planted substrates are very pricey. ADA amazonia or power soil, or just any other planted soil. I would probably get some pool filter sand and root tabs as its a cheaper method.

weird way to do it. I just go to the chemist and get a little bottle of ammonia which I use a syringe and dose directly. though I would recommend wearing googles and a mask as the fumes will give you a killer headache.

HOBs just sound way too fragile and expensive. I am a big fan of over filtration, with an internal filter and a sponge filter in all my tanks. both of which are very cheap filters.

don't worry about shrimp they breed fine, just put some pebbles in the tank. Live plants are the way to go, I would swap the substrate for sand if you want any carpet plants. but java fern and Anubis should be fine seeing as they arent planted.

Went and got Corys and amano shrimp to start populating the tank. I also picked up a gh booster because my well water system is using rain water and there no minerals in it. I acclimatized my corys and they are so happy now.
