Back in the day (pre 3D backgrounds)I always stuck vinyl backgrounds on the inside (water side) using special water proof double sided tabs (from eBay) No air bubbles and a brighter colour.

    Breeding Hell! Juli's Again

Yes they do. I have at least 3 generations and they all look after each other. The LFS know they are doing me a favor as what else am I going to do with them.

Broke The Brace Bar On My Tank

What tank is it? If it's a Juwel or Fuval then I would find a strip of ABS plastic from the DIY store similar to the original stay, cut off the old one then (after making the area dry) superglue it in place. The stay bar works on the principle of sheer strength so the area of gluing to the...

    Breeding Hell! Juli's Again

The nearest thing I have to a Brichardi is a Neolamprologus Pulcher. He was a bad boy when he was part of a breeding pair. The female died during second spawning  At one time they took over nearly half my tank. Now he's alone he's fine apart from the odd dash at tank mates when the mood...

    Breeding Hell! Juli's Again

Going to have to thin out my Juli's soon. Saw a load of 'pin heads' before and after the water change this weekend. Took about 6 up the LFS the other week and need to take the same amount again (1" plus) Also one of my two Syno's will have to go soon, or maybe even both of them (5" plus) Anyone...

Aldi, Selling 54L Complete Setup £50

Right, lets get real here  the picture in the tank is obviously superimposed (photo shopped badly?) and the person in the advertising agency who did it has no idea about fish keeping but what the heck. Back to the OP's post, it does sound good value but is it? Personally I would...

Thinking Of Changing From Tropical Community To Mbuna Or Tanganyikan

Mine have been in 40ppm nitrate for years. They are more sensitive than a lot of fish to most things but 40ppm is handleable. The most important thing to remember with Tanganyikans is maintaining stability rather than actual levels Looking good girl! ;)

    Easy Water Changes?

Hi, well doing a partial water change is a good opportunity to use the siphoning action to suck up detritus (poo) from the substrate. Your idea wouldn't allow this.........

    Local Pet Store.

As suggested it sounds as though she is mixing her nitrite and nitrate up. Easily done. Of course any trace of nitrite is detrimental to keeping fish but nitrate can be tolerated in fairly high doses. However 40ppm or lower is best. My water straight from the tap contains 40ppm Going by what...

    28Litre Suggestions

Well I suggested a shoal (maybe 6) of pygmy cory. There are not many fish you can put with a Betta and ideally they should be alone. I suggested the cory as I had this set up years ago and it worked fine

Thinking Of Changing From Tropical Community To Mbuna Or Tanganyikan

 That's ok, don't want to butt in on your favours at your local MA. The hunt locally starts tomorrow but if I have problems be assured, I will be back! That B&Q grating looks a likely candidate for my shelf project (over on the DIY forum) HOW MANY did you buy  I am predicting a...

Can 2 Male Bettas Live In The Same Tank?

Errr, the clue is in the aka title...Siamese FIGHTING fish.........till the death of one or both  Each one has a special character to it's self, some will be fine with certain tank mates yet another wont but one thing is for sure, it will fight with another male Betta. Any fish (or...

    Washing Coral Sand

I have had coral gravel for a year or more now. If I remember rightly I rinsed it through a couple of times and it was fine. The water will fog up a bit for a while which will do no harm. Like cycling, it seems to take an age but in the scheme of things it's soon forgotten. Coral gravel...

Take A Look At My Frontosa Please.

I spent some time just watching the tank to see if I could work out who the culprit is. The 2 bigger Fronts paid her no attention whatsoever even if she swam right by. Take A Look At My Frontosa Please.

That would be my guess  She was one of 4 that I obtained. They were all the same size about a year ago. One I moved on, the other 2 look like males and are presently 4-5". This one remained at the same size since getting her (around 2") which makes me think it's a female, that and the...
