Thinking Of Changing From Tropical Community To Mbuna Or Tanganyikan

2/3/4/ days fanning, but she still used the shell when the little eyes started to appear and then guarded it for ages. Once the fry leave the shells and crawl around the tank remove them as the male may eat them ( I caught mom at it as well), So I had these 2 shells about an inch apart right at the front of the tank with a female fanning in each, SWEET.

Any news? Hmmm YES!! :D :D :D

Took all the unclaimed fish over to MA and got £27 credit for them, which is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick

I checked that my fish are still on reserve and they are, I spoke to the young lad who works over there on a weekend and I couldn`t believe it when he told me he also keeps Tangs and has a pair of Caudopunctatus that he`ll bring in for me next Saturday.......for £5. Needless to say I snatched his hand off and gave him the money there and then, he`s a lovely lad who`s always come over and spoken to me and hubby when we go over there. Soooo, all the fish I wanted I`ll have by next Weekend :band:

I was really pi**ed off because the egg crate didn`t turn up this morning but.......hubby suggested popping into B&Q to see what we could get on the way back from MA and we found some square plastic grating for drains. :D
We both started early this morning, caught all the fish, sorted out which ones went where and bagged the ones that were going to MA. Then once we got back from B&Q hubby cleaned the tank for me as I couldn`t reach the bottom of it, then we both started filling it with the sand and rock. Finally started to fill it and now it`s ready for the fish which we`ll go over and pick up tomorrow :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Wow, so B&Q do 'made to measure' egg crating now! lol. Perfect fit, eh?

Tell me, which MA are you using? I want a pair of Neolamprologus Caudopunctatus for a fiver, bargain or what!

Great news on the improvised rock support, the Caudopunctatus and being ready for the big day tomorrow!

Poor doresy might ask you if there's a chance of a new Caudopunctatus from the MA staff member too.
wink.gif

Edit: Just seen he beat me to it!

Had a quick read of an article of N. caudopuntatus and it suggest that my hypothetical 620T Tang conversion might be able to cater for a female, along with some "Sumbu shell" plus the mystery Tang catfish (plus perhaps a top-dweller that likes hard water from elsewhere, like a Goodeid or Rainbowfish)

We go to the MA in Wimborne, they`re fantastic over there, so friendly and always very helpful.

The lad who works there has bred the Caudopuncs himself which is why I got them so cheap. I offered to let him have one of my small tanks a few months ago as he was desperately in need of one but he managed to get one from one of his friends. I think because I offered to help him out and we`ve always had a bit of a chinwag when we see him, that`s why he let me have them cheaper. Would you like me to send him a message on Facebook and ask him if he has another 1 or 2, that will solve your looking for them then?

Yeah we were really surprised when we found the plastic grating stuff, it fit perfectly. I totally miscalculated how much to get and bough 16 of them so there are now 10 left over that we have to return
I`ll just sell the egg crate back on ebay once it turns up, or advertise it on here seeing as it`ll now be surplus to requirements

Hubby and I are now sat down, chilling with a cuppa and enjoying looking at the new setup. We`re both chuffed that it turned out the way it did, I love it and can`t wait to get my new fish tomorrow :D

 That's ok, don't want to butt in on your favours at your local MA. The hunt locally starts tomorrow but if I have problems be assured, I will be back!

That B&Q grating looks a likely candidate for my shelf project (over on the DIY forum) HOW MANY did you buy

I am predicting a sleepless night for you guys :hyper: "It's so exciting!" :hyper:

It`s not a problem to ask, if he says no then you`re no worse off than you are at the moment :/ Give me a shout if you need to, I don`t mind asking, he`ll think they`re for me and probably won`t mind if he has enough.

Yes I co*ked up on the number that I bought, what can I say except....I`m blonde

That grating looks the mutts nuts, pardon the expression
Can I ask ?
1 - What size is it ?
2 - How much does it cost ?

I phoned LFS , they don't sell it :grr: I phoned other LFS and he didn't know what I was talking about, was suggesting going to supermarket for crate of eggs

Great news on all that's been happening :hyper:

They measure 110mmX110mm and you can find them in the building section of B&Q, they cost £2.99 each....... so yes it worked out expensive when I miscalculated how many I would need but hubby knew how pi**ed off I was at not being able to crack on with the setup :look:
I have 10 too many now so will return them to B&Q unless you know how many you need, I can always post you some if you want?

The ones I bought from ebay are these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390161172308&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_780wt_907. I`ll jst sell them back on ebay when they eventually turn up

Cheers for the offer, I'll have a wee rummage in B&Q and Homebase when I'm off next weekend, need to source more rocks (and a tank  ), looking forward to seeing your fish, the tank looks good with all that rockwork in there :good:
:fish:

Thanks, I`m chuffed to bits with it :D

No worries, you should be able to find it there  Shame there`s not much chance of finding a big but cheap tank there too huh, if only :/

I have to admit I was very tempted with the 4 footer thay have on display with the sloped front, the stand was very unusual and nice coloured also, plus the price was a bonus, will push for 48"x15"x15" or 48"x18"x15" if they can do a cabinet with that floor space, it's just over the horizon :good:

I'm very pleased to see your set up, it's Tanganyikan and it's going to have the stock I would like in my own, be cool to see :good:

Picked up 3 leleupi, 1 marlieri, 8 leptosoma, 1 Brichardi and 6 multies this morning. I got the Brichardi for free so that was good and I`ll have the caudopunctatus next weekend :D :D

Not sure what to do about the Frontosa. One of the lads suggested the 'five bars' instead of the front but as I wasn`t sure I left it for today so I can google for info and ask for peoples opinions on them

Cost a bl*ody fortune and I thought hubby was going to have a heart attack, so asked them not to say the total out loud and just get me to put my card in the machine :look:
Luckily enough I`ve made a bit back by selling the Tropicals and trading some of them in and hubby was actually pretty chilled B-)

I`m just acclimatising them all at the moment, will get some pics up later on :)

Wow, all systems go... Thought it was just the Cyps today!

Looking forward to seeing the pics later.
