I still have doubts about it being the bristleworms. If something is indeed taking bites out of your starfish the I suspect it to be something else like a hitchhiker crab or shrimp that may have got into your tank in your LR!

Well if aint molted then it may well mean something else in the tank killed it. So you might have another (bigger) crab or shrimp in the tank that is making the clicking sound!

Yea the chunk missing could be a sign the starfish is on it's way out and is starting to disintegrate! I would remove it from the tank before it pollutes the whole system! The bristleworms shouldnt attack it unless it was already dead!

What is your waterflow like in the tank? as shrooms are not too keen on high flow and can detach themselves as can most corals and move to a diffrent spot away from high flow in the tank. I have had a shrrom do it in my tank before and had I not been there to witness it I would have thought...

No I think the 3 gallon bucket may be a bit small for that livestock. I would personally invest in a larger bucket/container, about 5+ gallon minimum as its always good to have one at hand in case of an emergency where you need to tranfer your livestock from your main tank. It may well come in...

BY the way cant you remove the braces temporarily and insert a full size base into the tank and seal it onto the sides. once set you could attach the braces back intp place. This way you will more or less have a full internal base and the crack on the ouside wont really matter! ;)

Well I'd personally wouldnt risk leaving the remainder of my stock in the tank and go and get myself a large bucket/container from a hardware store, stick a pump and heater in it along with your filter, mix saltwater to same SG and temp as tank and transfer all my livestock into it for the time...

Try feeding it some brineshrimp mixed in garlic, im sure it will give it a go. It may not be eating due to stress and can take a few days for it to settle in! Or maybe it not keen on the pellets so you may have to try a variety of foods before it decides to eat!
