Crab

well i thought i'd found who was clicking in the tank the other night & have been thinking on how to get the crab out of his hidey hole.
only i got up yesterday & found him dead looked in the tank as there was a lot of clicking coming from it, i couldn't believe it when i found the crab looking like this.

so now i'm back to square 1 trying to find he who clicks

so far the rest of my livestock is fine so looks like a night of watching the tank in darkness with my red light is coming on

You sure that is the actual crab and not it's shedded skin as it may have molted and thats what you've been left to find!

1entra i'm sure its the crab, it still had the fleshy bits left inside it
plus i've still got clicking going on it the tank

Fuzzy body, black tipped claws, usually means an unwanted crab...at least he's out of there. Wonder why he died though...

Well if aint molted then it may well mean something else in the tank killed it. So you might have another (bigger) crab or shrimp in the tank that is making the clicking sound!

Anything that clicks would have eaten the crab...it's not very likely something would kill it just to kill it.

well there is still clicking in the tank, i even took the thermontior out to make sure it wasn't that tapping on the glass lol.
the day i found the crab dead i heard a lot of clicking which is what made me look in the tank at that time so maybe whatever it is was going to eat the crab but i disturbed it
as of yet i've not lost any more livestock so i'm not sure whats going on, if i do start to lose stuff then i do have another tank to transfer the livestock into while i try & find whats in there lol
will just have to wait & see now

I would say it seems like you have a mantis shrimp in the tank. They would make a clicking noise and it also appears that the top of that crab got smashed in which is also what a mantis would do.
