I've been cutting some lexan sheets into dividers for my betta tank and have noticed that there is an odor released from cutting it. It kinda melts from the heat generated by my dremel too. Is it safe to use lexan as tank dividers? Does it leech toxic chemicals into the water? :/

Yeah I think they discontinued it probably because most people bought their fully integrated Penguin/Emperor filters. They also have the biowheel + canister Magnum system which is still very popular, but since you already have a canister you just want the biowheel.

Why not try a bottle of Cycle? You don't need any ammonia for that either.

A bacterial bloom can happen anytime there is over feeding or lots of organics in the water even in a cycled tank. Filter floss can clear water of bacterial blooms.

Why would you need carbon to remove protein in a plant only tank? Plant only tanks shouldn't contain protein. Protein is onlly an issue if you have fish, fish food, etc. in the tank.
