I've been cutting some lexan sheets into dividers for my betta tank and have noticed that there is an odor released from cutting it. It kinda melts from the heat generated by my dremel too. Is it safe to use lexan as tank dividers? Does it leech toxic chemicals into the water? :/

Wouldn't like to say for sure, but I would have thought that normal water changes would dilute it to a totally safe level.

Some lexan is chemically resistant so would have thought it wouldn't leech anything for fear of re-acting with whatever chemical it's exposed to.

:/

What you said makes a lot of sense. I think I'll put the lexan in with some test fish with the carbon removed for a couple weeks and see if they have any abnormal reaction to it. Thanks for your insight. :)
