    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Buddyboy, I think you got it with the stomatella. I looked up the pics and they were what this one looked like. I also looked up the flatworms, but I haven't noticed anything that looked quite like what the pics showed. Only thing that comes close to that are the slug/snail without a shell...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Thanks, Seffie! I am actually in the process of setting up the 20 gallon today instead of the 10. Pics will come later once they are worthy of them. :fish: Not much to show right now, so would rather wait til after next weekend when I hope to be able to get more when I go to the "big city"...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

My tank is up and running! YIPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE Actually, I have the 29 gallon going and a 10 gallon Nano! The 29 is housing, for now, a clown fish, 2 astrea snails, a red legged crab, Hawaiian Feather Duster, and some teeny tiny feather duster you can barely notice unless you set and watch...

Would A Figure 8 Puffer Eat Amano Shrimp?

This is a fish I have always liked, but too fearful of adding one to a community aquarium. I already have way too many tanks or I might consider a "species only" tank for them! LOL Just my opinion, and I am a newbie, so others might comment differently.

What (if Any) Larger Fish Can I Get?

Most would probably say you are already stocked with all the tank can handle, but I have successfully kept more than the recommended amount of "fish per gallon". Key thing is to keep it cleaned regularly and change the filter media. With the Platies, do you know how many male to female ratio you...

    Glass Catfish

Hi, I have 4 Glass Catfish in with Dwarf Gourami's, Cory's, Striped Raphael Catfish, Common Pleco, and an Albino Bristlenose Pleco with no problems. There also use to be Platies, Swordtails and Mollies in with them and no problems. Glass Cats are very peaceful fish, and finicky eaters. It took...

    Bristle Nose Catfish

I have an Albino and he eats CONSTANTLY! LOL He is a hoot and since the Regular Juvi Pleco stays hid all day he keeps the tank nice and clean.

    Fossil Rock?

WOW! Thanks so much again for the great info! I think I will feel safer leaving it out seeing as how I don't know what it is I have. Might be best to just make it a centerpiece in the garden somewhere outside. THANKS AGAIN!

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Well I bought a hydrometer today, so that was my first step. LOL I had to have it anyway so that I can test the tank that I am transitioning from brackish back to fresh water.

    Fossil Rock?

Hi, thanks for the responses! I asked at the LFS today and of course I was told NO, unless I wanted dead fish. I have no clue what kind of rock it is, just thought it would be a neat centerpiece. She doesn't even have any LR for sale, just BR. The LR she had in her tank was from someone else...

    Fossil Rock?

I found a large Fossil rock yesterday that is just beautiful and I was wondering if once it is cleaned could it be used as the centerpiece of a saltwater tank? It has many hidy holes and crevices for life to form once the tank is established and I would love to use it if at all possible. Your...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Well, I think I am "typing" to myself since there haven't been any responses, but anyway..... I removed the substrate from the 29 gallon today, and man does it look awful! LOL Just a hand full of fish and a "House" for the Pleco and Raphael's to hide in. Slowly but surely, as they say.

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Well, I went out looking a bit more yesterday and it seems as though starting slow is my only option for now. Man this is an expensive hobby! Just the test kit alone is $70 around here, but maybe I can look online and find it much cheaper, even with shipping. The power of patience...

Thanks so much for the welcome and ALL your help! I knew if I joined a good site I would get some good info! :) I am also a gardener, so I have learned a TON from other gardeners online as well. 29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

You are correct, I live in the US. Which is great you do as well since I don't know squat about liters, units, etc. Both the LFS close to here are very small with little to choose from for saltwater tanks. I will probably end up driving an hour or more to get to a larger city with more...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

hey :) First, thanks for the compliment :) means alot :D anyhow, this LR they say they have at your LFS, unless it is in water in tanks and ALIVE then i don't see why not, but if its boxed up or dry i wouldn't waste your money; you should try out ebay or buy it online, some LR online is VERY...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Well we cross posted! LOL I added this to my last post-Forgot to add that I also use bubblers in most all of my tanks for water movement/oxygenation-is this a viable option for the saltwater tank? I had a power head once that I ended up taking back to the LFS because the wheel quit turning and...

    29 Gallon Saltwater Tank Questions

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! I haven't purchased the testing kits as of yet, but I already have a start on the sea salt (Instant Ocean) as I have brackish tanks going now. I do want a substrate of course as a bare bottom is not appealing to the eye. Is it adult fish size that makes it not...
