    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

Agreed totally, and I’m not very successful in a lot of ways,in fact I’m still new to the hobby and I couldn’t learn half the stuff others know on here, even if I live and learn for another 40yrs👍

    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

Well I enjoyed the read TwoTankAmin and you have your chosen method of cycling that works, and I have mine which you understand.I only mentioned an alternative method that does work. Thanks for the reply.

    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

So am I slaphppy and that’s another reason why I use the dead fish cycle.wether you agree with this method or not the point is it works and instead of turning a blind eye to it why don’t,when you reply, just agree that it’s an alternative method. Thanks Ian

    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

I can honestly understand your point essjay, and I respect your opinion as your way is a way to cycle, but not thee way. I agree with you mentioning about nit knowing the amount of ammonia going in,and perhaps I should have added that common sense is needed, when it comes to the dead fish part. It...

    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

Well every days a school day as they say slaphppy.who cares about precision, all folk want is to have their tank up and running in order to get to the main event, putting fish in.I’ve cycled tanks enough now to be able to say the dead fish fishless cycle never fails,no numbers to do one’s head...

My tank is so depressing now

Well you might not lose the last couple of Cory's,because you don't know what's wrong so you can't say that. I put 3 new Cory's in my tank last weekend and I've lost two of them, and that's happened on a few occasions. I put a load of Otto's in,I can't remember how many but it was near 20 and I...

My tank is so depressing now

There's always something that can be done so don't sound so disheartened. This is the time to be proactive. So you have lost your group of Cory's,not good but not the end of your fishtank. Think positive, give it a good clean, that always helps spark the brain into action with ideas and positivity...

    Fishless cycle progress, normal?

I'm pretty sure you will need to add some form of ammonia in order for the nitrite to go up. This is why I put a post up about just putting a piece of dead fish in the tank to cycle it. I can't believe people simy ignore this way of cycling a tank,no numbers,no questions, the tank will cycle by...

Yes fish can eat slugs and snails.

Is the python actually worth it?

The python hose isn't neoprene.neoprene soaks water in,but not through.divers wetsuits, fishermens waders are neoprene.

Is the python actually worth it?

Only coffee can be instant. If the water temp in the aquarium is 22 and one takes out the fish and adds them into water at 2 degrees then the fish will suffer cold water shock, that’s obvious, but anyone who is dumb enough to do this shouldn’t be in control of a party popper never mind a fish...

Is the python actually worth it?

Sorry but I disagree slaphppy7. Freshwater river fish can’t just head away somewhere when there’s an extreme temperature change,And either can fish in garden ponds, take spring time for example, warm sunshine one day and then snow or hail the next. They don’t just die, they adjust their metabolism...

Is the python actually worth it?

Sorry but I have to disagree slaphppy7. where do freshwater river fish go when there’s an extreme temperature change? They can’t head out to sea. What about garden ponds.Take spring for example, warm sunshine one minute, snow or hail the next causing instant temperature changes. Fish simply move up...

Is the python actually worth it?

This is a handy connection if there’s ever a worry that the python falls from the tank when filling. Put the python hose into the c-cup and stick it to outside glass.

Is the python actually worth it?

I took the shut off valve off the python as I didn’t see the point of it really. For getting the temperature correct simply run the tap water through the python connection for a minute, judging the temp as closely as you can, stick a thermometer in a basin checking the temp as the basin...

Is the python actually worth it?

The python doesn't need a hook because the suction strength pulls it into the water when draining. The hose is soft enough that it bends enough over the lip of the glass enough to hold while filling up too.simples!

    More Scottish Greywhacke bedrock

I didn't know they are rarely grown to proper size.I started with 19 of them, but lost three. I've had them about a year,so hopefully they get a little bigger whistlingbadger.

    More Scottish Greywhacke bedrock

Thanks Double Dutch. That was my original plan guyb93.I was planning to put the big rock to the right with some small ones around it and the next biggest to the right I might just rearrange once I have time,to hopefully show it's full potential. Great minds think alike👍

    More Scottish Greywhacke bedrock

Well this stuff is heavy and the big piece weighs in at around 15 kilo, and I have it freestanding, but it shouldn’t move.I would get hung, drawn and quartered if I went into business by selling the river rocks ,I mean could you imagine the anglers reactions to their river being depleted of places...

    More Scottish Greywhacke bedrock

This rock has quartz veins running through it in all directions and there’s a faint reddish tint to it that shows oxidising,so there is a little iron going on.Like I said before, these quartz veins can harbour gold, but I’m not breaking it open to find out. The tall rock at the back is by far my...

    Two treasures

Scottish gold is 22 carat or 91.6% purity. Since gold doesn't deteriorate I can safely say it will be fine in an aquarium.

    I'M NEW TO THIS.

This is probably brown algae and is a good sign when cycling. The dead fish, could just be weak fish.I would expect more dead if it was a contaminant problem. Brown algae is unsightly, but most new set ups will have brown alage. It's up to you how you remove it,but it's not dodgy for fish, and like...
