Pictures of my tank and stuff

Awesome pictures. Especially that one with the corys and the neons. Does that Ammonia alarm card work? I saw that in the store and thought it would be neat since I am one of these paranoids that feels the need to test for ammonia 400 times a day.

All my tetras like the bottom.

My numbers are all good. My water is clear, my fish seem happy, my rummy-noses have very good coloring (which I understand is a health indicator with that fish), etc etc etc. But for some reason all my fish spend most of their time at the bottom half of the tank. I've got Rummy-Noses...

That pic is hard to see. Could it be some kind of Goby?

    Moderators Tanks

Both great tanks. Ken, two questions. 1. Are those real leaves in there or silk? That is a cool effect. 2. How long did those Neone last (I don't see them in your sig list)? Are they in there as feeder fish? LOL ;)

    UGLY

So you are the arbiter of all things SUBJECVTIVE? You get to decide what is and isn't beautiful and then tell others that that is how they must feel about it? What an insane notion. Beauty is, in fact, cliche aside, in the eye of the beholder. I find Bettas to be wholly icky to look at...

The funniest thing you've ever seen your fish do

I have silver-tip tetras that are maybe an inch long who have a serious love of blood worm. I have some freeze-dried bloodworms that are half as long as the tetras. These guys will grab the end of a bloodworm and then stretch their mouths way out to get the end of the worm in. It takes them...

    ******March Tank of the Month******

Thanks!!! My 4 year old son and I picked everything out. He picked most of the stuff. The Rock is "Indian Red" Kordon WonderRock. Available at Petco. http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=...39&dept_id=%2D2 I had the Blue variety of that same gravel when I was a kid, so it was funny to me...

Bio-Spira or substitute in the uk

Bio-Spira contains three bacteria: PRINCIPLE INGREDIENTS: Purified water, patented and patent pending pure strains of Nitrosomonas, Nitrosospira and Nitrospira. http://marineland.com/products/mllabs/ML_biospira.asp I get the impression that MArineLand Labs are the people that figured out the...

Which is the best fish in the sea?

It's too bad you put Gouramis and BEttas in one item. They are both Labyrinth fish, but I love Gouramis and dislike Bettas. So I voted Characins :)

Bio-Spira or substitute in the uk

I just did a Bio-Spira "cycle". IT WORKS. I have 22 Fish in my tank. No problems with chemistry, my bio-wheel is nice and dark, my water is clear, etc. I put WATER in my 40 US gallon tank 13 days ago along with Bio-Safe. I put in 12 fish and Bio-Spira after 6 days, and now I have the 22...

    Silver-Tipped Tetras

I fed them every "snack" treat I had and they went absolutely wild over that. I have one silver-tip here that grabbed onto the end of a bloodworm that was as long as he was and jammed it down his throat. Got it half way down and then started spassing out and sank to the floor so he could stop...

    Two questions about my Corys.

This IS California of course. :fun: I'm just focused on having a tank full of fish that A) don't rip each other to shreds and B) don't die because I posoined them accidentally. Once we get past that anxiety we'll think about things like breeding... LOL

    Two questions about my Corys.

Oh man thanks! I wish I saw this before going back to the LFS for more though!!! I ended up with three males and one female. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/calli...ydora/110_f.php Is this going to be a problem later on?

    good price

I'm kind of iffy on them. I love the site and the prices. I also love that I got everything in my order. HOWEVER, I sent them no less than three emails in five days after my order was said to be "shipped". I NEEDED the tracking code so I would know what day to be home from work to receive...

I'm not sure if this is an emergency.

I have some really insane silver-tips. I posted about it here as part of a thread I started the other day. http://fish.orbust.net/forums/index.php?sh...=0&#entry208138 These little psychos are really driving up my stress level.

    Silver-Tipped Tetras

In the last few hours, these guys have really turned it up a notch. They haven't schooled at ALL in a couple of days. Now they are just having running horrific battles with two to three individuals circling around each other pecking and chasing accross the tank. Some are even charging full...

    good price

Do you mean a whole aquarium with a 280 attached? Or just an Emperor 280 Filter? I paid $32 + shipping from www.Bigalsonline.com a couple weeks ago for a 280 filter. Not tax. I got a bunch of other stuff in the order, so the shipping was like $1 per item when all was said and done. At LFS's...

Another Geocities Link victim. You have to pay extra at Geocities if you want to be able to link to pictures. Try either attaching them instead of linking or upload them to a web server that doesn't block image linking.

    broke all rules

Bio-Spira isn't just a bacteria starter, it's a complete load of bacteria. People seem to get this mixed up with other products that just "encourage" bacteria. I am no expert, but on this one issue I've read as much as I can find. I can tell you from my own use. The stuff works.

I'd just thought dat i wanna share this:

I bought this exact pellet a couple of days ago to try and give to my Corys who are just in there a couple days at this point. Do these things cloud your water? I seem to get a lot of cloudiness after putting one of these in. Also, I don't know if my Corys (Elegans) like these because all 17...

    Silver-Tipped Tetras

Thanks! This helps. I'm just worried about the one that's not very good at this game. I suppose either their nature will keep them from pushing him too far, or natural selection will cacth up with him. :/ As long as it's a normal part of life, there's not much point in trying to swim upstream...

    Two questions about my Corys.

Got two Cory Elegns yesterday. Picked Elegans over tons of others at the LFS just because the Elegans were in my budget, and looked reasonably frisky and happy in their tank compared to others in the LFS who were mostly a lot lazier looking. FIRST, these were labelled Cory Elegans, but most...

    6 barbs + anymore? (warning 350kb: pics)

You say you set it up a couple days ago? Did you put Bio-Spira in there? BEcause if not, and you didn't cycle, then you probablty better hold off on putting anymore fish and start testing for ammonia. Some expert keepers are sure to come along in this thread an explain it in very clear terms ;)...

    Silver-Tipped Tetras

Is it normal for Silver-Tipped Tetras to hassle the heck out of each other. Once in a while these 6 guys will all school together. They don't fight over food. Sometimes they even will all 6 join the Rummy-Nose school and swim with them. But they do seem to break up the herd pretty often and...

All my Tetras school so far. Although I've only had some for a week, some for half a day! :) Anyway For a week I had just 6 Rummys and 6 Neons with more than enough swimming room. They both do everything in schools. Today I added 6 silver tips and they immediately JOINED the school of Rummys...

Wht do you feed your Rummy-Noses?

It's six of two kinds for now! We are in the "adding slowly" phase of things. Are the pellets something like these ones? http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=...02&dept_id=%2D2

    Is everything normal here?

Oh I'm not concerned. I'm quite happy. Just reporting back on the Bio-Spira "method", since it's still sort of novel and relatively controversial from what I can gather.

Wht do you feed your Rummy-Noses?

I picked up some Tetra flake food and some freeze dried blood worms. My Rummys look very happy. They have good coloring, swim a lot, etc. But they seem to ignore the blood worms and they seem to spit out all the flake food they try. They actually go into hifding when I put the flakes in the...

    Neons vs Cardinal

My Neons do it every night now. It's kind of funny actually. They go into the plants as a group and within the hour they are drifting around scattered by the currents in the tank looking like a bunch of drunks with hangovers. These guys are wild eaters though and very energetic all day long.
