Thanx for this link and info.....it changed my opinion, and i've stopped using amquel, back to aged water for the w/change to the QT, to continue the myaxcin treatment, on standard dose. And since i'm not using the amquel, have secured a filter today, and added mature media. Not using prime nor...

Back from shops, got a 3 for 2 deal (2x mopani & 1 x driftwood), same price as for 1 online! - had 6 x rinse of warm water. leaving it to soak overnight. They are orandas(fancy goldfish), and according to various sites; #like water with a pH of 7 to 8 and moderate hardness. #can tolerate a...

Agree.Tested hardness(KH/GH) in the tank is the same as the tap, just the ph is different.

    Catch 22 Situ

It never occurred to me to measure the hardness of the tank water. Will need to test that. I just assumed it wud be the same as its source. But then the ph isn't the same as the source. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Its all in the tiny details we overlook. Definately no coral ornaments...

    Catch 22 Situ

Hi, In the last 2 weeks, 2 of my fishes have strange markings on their skin, and given my enthusiasm for water changes i couldn't believe it was something to do with the water quality. I only figured out this morning, that its excess slime coat, caused by PH swings from the tap(ph7.4) to the...

Cloudy Water - Not Bacterial Bloom

I've search high and low for alternatives....but none....all just gimicky. Tired of paying just to be their guinea pig. I'm just gonna get of my derriere, and do water changes. For the record I've never used purigen; i read some pretty good reviews about it, and then found some bad comments...

Cloudy Water - Not Bacterial Bloom

we recently tried another product "Pozzani", thats 'suppose' to remove nitrate from the tap water(our problem) before it reaches the tank. Yes the 1st cartridge work brilliantly, but apparently, "not all cartridges are created equally" it wud seem. So thats a waste of money. Yes they extract...

Cloudy Water - Not Bacterial Bloom

ok its been awhile since i researched it. But carbon requires salting/boiling(can't remember) to re-charge it, and i think purigen requires bleaching and then soaking in water conditioner (alot of it) to re-charge it. (i assume people buy it to use it, then recharge it, to reuse it etc) i would...

Cloudy Water - Not Bacterial Bloom

hi, when i say "i liken it to carbon" what i meant was that yes it extracts what it says it extracts from the water, but once its full, and its not removed from the filter, it will release it back into the water, just like carbon. Carbon when its full, and not removed from the filter, releases...

You guys are not funny ....in this instance tut tut :P @ robertsskippyj You made a great choice. How's the ammonia?? Its unlikely  that the ex1200 had anything to do with the rise in ammonia. More than likely something unbalanced the bulk of the bacteria, during your media...

Cloudy Water - Not Bacterial Bloom

After my talk with seachem about the prime, they sent me 2x purigen (apology gift), but we didn't use it. We don't use carbon in our filters ever ( we don't use meds, so we don't need to remove them and we overfiltrate, so our waters crystal clear), and i liken purigen to carbon.

Poor jackson. Do you have a pic? or describe which fin, and its location on the fin.
