My danios stayed at the top of the tank when i first tranfered them but then they got used to the filter that had alot faster flow than they were used to. It is completely normal for them to do that. They swim at medium level to top level. Maybe try to increase the flow or something.

I use root tabs and they do a great job at making plants grow very quickly so i would recommend it but you dont have to. I also use THRIVE all in one fertilizer you can get it off of amazon.

Whatever it is, it is probably caused by poor water quality . I would do a water change and add aquarium salt.

It has to be non iodized salt with no addatives so not table salt. Like kosher salt.

I would try to treat them all with salt or they will most likely all die.

Do you dechlorinate the water? I think that the fish has dropsy which isnt good so I would buy some test kits to test the water and some aquarium salt good luck. But it is good that you quarantined him. Do any of your other fish have dropsy?

Ya he looks like a male because he has an anal fin. So he might have something wrong with him. I would add aquarium salt to help him.

Sometimes they get constapated but it should be fine. But are you definently sure that it is a male. If not, can you take a pic of the underside so I can tell if its a female because it looks like a pregnant female.

If he was recently moved he might just be asjusting that is why he isnt as active.

I would try salt but he might not make it if he is not eating.

I have kept some together that were weeks apart but it just depends on how big the fry are. Can I see picture of size difference.

You can get a fish that could clean the gravel for you like shrimp or a bn pleco. Or have you tried gavel vacumming the rocks or does that not pull the algae of the rocks.

Pretty much every fish disease is caused by doing something wrong with your fish or fish tank and if you read up on the disease then you would know.
