    Help with treating my betta

Yes, I agree! Many people can't have a very large tank and although yes, a 40 gallon tank would be perfect, a 20 gallon tank will also do just fine. Of course, the fish won't be as happy as they would be in a 40g tank but they would still have a good life!

    Floating Cory

Hi. I'm so sorry... Yes, I would say its swim bladder....I don't have much experience but I know that some other symptoms are loss of appetite (not always though) and a curved back. You could try to not feed him for a few days and buy a treatment, or add salt, but I think you already know this...

    6 new three stripped corys.

They are beautiful! Yes, I agree with the above. I've heard that some say that corys damaging their barbels is a myth - but I think its definitely better to have sand, its better to be safe than sorry. Corys have adapted to feed in fine substrate like sand, and to keep their snouts and barbels...

Hydrogen peroxide to kill hair algae?

Hi. I've never used it but there's a lot of stuff online that says it works - just make sure to use it right. :)

    5g tank re-scape.

Yes! She will be so happy with all the others. :) At least she now has a good temporary home while you try to find another larger tank. :fish:

    Adding fish to cycled tank

Hi. It really depends but I think it is best to wait a week or so before adding new fish. However, since you already have panda corys I'm not sure if you should wait that long, or if the old panda corys may consider the new panda corys as "newcomers". What I would do is add some more corys in a...

    5g tank re-scape.

Hi. I think it looks so nice, I would add more plants and some driftwood maybe, but I understand that the tank is already quite small and also the plants will grow more. It looks so neat and nice! :)

Additional stocking for 25 gallons- CPD?

Hi. Some people on this forum may say you shouldn't add anymore fish because it is stocked enough, however in my opinion I think a 25 gallon tank is big enough for another small shoal of fish. :) Hope you figure it out!

    Nitrite killing my Betta

Hi. There are few things that may have caused this, any of this happen? Something blocking the filter A prolonged power cut of more than a couple of hours Accidentally forgetting to chlorinate tap water before using it for a water change A consequence of certain types of medications used to...

Additional stocking for 25 gallons- CPD?

Hi. Congrats on the new tank! I'm not sure about celestial pearl danios as if I am not mistaken they need GH levels of 5 - 10 dGH, but I'm not sure how hard your water is. Boraea Brigittae (Chili Rasbora) need soft water (If I am not mistaken) so I doubt they will thrive in your tank. You could...

    Help with treating my betta

Hi. First of all can I just say that Sushi is so beautiful! :) Unfortunately I agree that the tank is overstocked. The filter may not be coping and the water may be unhealthy. Check your nitrite and nitrate levels, make sure they are okay. In my opinion a 3 gallon tank is big enough for a betta...

New 15 Gallon aquarium Any stocking ideas or tips?

Yes, I agree with the others regarding the driftwood pieces and black background. I know the tank isn't that big but you could try to add some foreground plants to really add layers? Eg some java moss near the front or some anubias on the side as a midground plant. :)

Hi. Not sure but here's a link that has different kinds of aquarium driftwood. I read it and first thought that you had Beefwood but had another look at the photo, it probably is not. Best Aquarium Woods :)

    Cleaning the tank

Hi. I have a similar size tank. Not sure about the new gravel but I would do this. I would do a water change, no bigger than 60 percent though, as it might stress out the fish... I would use a gravel cleaner to clean the gravel and suck out some water, with the fish still inside. I wouldn't...

    Pearl gourami issues

Hi. If you got your fish recently then stress and getting used to a new habitat could be a possibility, or it could be bullied by other fish. Update: Sorry just saw other people have posted the same thing, I agree with them.

    Water hardness confusion....help! :)

Hi. Yes, I’m sure you know what you are talking about, however there are so many websites saying that a 10g tank is fine. However I completely respect your decision, and you for sure more experienced than me, so you probably know best.

    Water hardness confusion....help! :)

No idea. Before getting the aquarium we tried to dig up the 'water meter' but once dug up could not find the numbers. I should ring up the company and check, or check any notes that I may have.

Can ancistrus live alone? Panda cories? :)

Yes, thank you. However, I spoke to many people, on this forum, not on this forum, and looked at reliable sources and have come to a conclusion that they can live in temperatures 25 degrees c, but yes, the flow needs to be different, so I may need to research more. Thank you for the website...

    Water hardness confusion....help! :)

Hi, Thanks for your reply..... Unfortunately I already got 4 platies today...... If I see they aren't getting on well in the tank I'll try to find a larger one....or re-home them... However they are still very small (like 2 cm) so we will see. :)

    Water hardness confusion....help! :)

Hi, So I've recently bought an API 5-in-1 aquarium test kit. I tested everything a few times, this is the most recent reading: GH - 180 ppm (mg/L) so 10 dGH KH - 80 ppm (mg/L) so 4.5 dKH. PH - 7.5 No2 - 0 No3 - 20 ppm (mg/L) I am planning on keeping platies and maybe some corys/ a butterfly...

How to introduce new fish to new aquarium?

Yes, thank you, the heater is not out in yet beacause the instructions told m to keep it in the water but not on yet for a few hours, a day. It’s on now. I’ve put in more plants so hopefully the nitrate levels will go down, and I’d they don’t I’ve heard that peat moss in a mesh bag will help. :)...

Hi. My tank is definitely not being enough for a group of panda corys, so will not be getting them. My tank is only 9 gallon. I’m probably still getting the platies and maybe the butterfly Plec. The only problem is that my Internet Delta Tgerm Hester 100 watts. It was in my tank for 3 days, but...

    Acara eggs

Hi, I'm not experienced with hatching and fish breeding, but I know that you can get a breeding box/hatchery. Hatchery Box There is an example. :) Sorry, I don't know much more, apart from the fact that the small fry may or may not be eaten by the other fish when they hatch.

Can ancistrus live alone? Panda cories? :)

Hi, I'm deciding what plecos/corys to get for my tank. I have a few questions. Can albino ancistrus live alone? Can albino ancistrus live with 2 panda corys, and a butterfly pleco? I know butterfly plecos need a slightly cooler aquarium, although I have read that if I keep the tank at 25...

    How would you stock this?

Panda cories would be good, especially if you have black substrate like I do,(not sure if you do though) they would stand out. :)

    UV light in canister filter

Hi. Tank lighting shouldn't be left for more than 12 hours a day, as all fish require periods of darkness. Leaving the light on always will harm the fish and algae will grow fast. Having the light on in the day can help live plants grow, and will also establish a 'routine' for the fish. :)
