I have twin 9yr olds and my girl asked "dad how do you know fish will mate, don't they have to like each other". Kids are so amazingYou shouldn't have to try too hard. They'll figure it out
Good luck.
They won't eat them. I have seen tanks breeding both at same time. It's pretty rad. Bristlenose are so amazing. If you’re trying to breed the shrimp, the bristlenose pleco May eat the fry. An otocinclus might be a better choice If you feel you need an algae eater.
Good luck with breeding your shrimp, I have ghost shrimp and have had a few babies but I am thinking of giving up on my shrimp tank.
I have looked into it, I am thinking of changing that tank from gravel to sand but have not decided what I want to do as far as stocking.Have you tried cherries? I've heard ghosts are harder to breed
I told my twins. It is super cool having the entire life cycle for young kids to watch and care for. She's right, fish do have to like each other to breed. Cichlids like to choose their mates, as do marine butterflyfish and angelfish. Bettas and gouramis choose their mates. Fish that live in schools/ shoals have lots of choice for partners and usually have a preferred partner but not always. Birds are the same and prefer to choose their partner.
