    Help on Molly Fish

To me, it looks like they are getting scratched up by something whether it be decor or each other. Monitor the tank for aggression and make sure all decor is not rocky or pointy- anything that they can scratch on. If you have observed flashing in the tank- this could also be from them rubbing...

Stocking a 10 gallon tank, any suggestions?

I definitely recommend platys! They are so personable and are beautiful colors and shapes! If you keep the tank clean- you can do mollies instead but that is up to you! All livebearers are so cool and do well in 10g (mollies are controversial haha but I have had a great experience with it)...

    Tank Size for Betta

Hello! Bettas can live in tanks as small as 3g so your 20g is perfect for him! I have a Pink Orchid Betta and he is incredibly aggressive towards all other things (except me haha). Like said in the last posts- veil tails are the least aggressive and are actually pretty docile. If you got...

Is this a female molly and uf so is she ready to give birth.

Definitely a male molly. You can tell by the pointiness of his anal fin. Females have rounded anal fins. He could just be well fed but watch for any signs of overfeeding. Livebearers, ESPECIALLY mollies and platys, have a tendency to over eat whenever they can. This can cause bloating and...

Is my platy pregnant or chunky ?

I have never seen a platy fry that color before! So cool! Mine are always dark to light orange haha.

Is my platy pregnant or chunky ?

Looks like a platy to me but I don’t have much experience with guppy fry. Try looking on google too!

Perfect! Where can I find that food? I haven’t seen it in Petco. I do have dry flake food that I can crush up.

    Two dead Bettas...

Based on my observations- it looks like your tank had extra ammonia and proteins floating around, that is what creates cloudy white water! Everyone here seemed to help you out- but that is my observation. Even doing your water changes- it was most likely a cycling problem and your bettas might...

    Fry Success Guarantee

I have had several batches of fry and they have NEVER seemed to survive. Something always went wrong with what I was doing. I want to make sure, that my current batch of three fry don't die. I have one molly and two platys. They are probably a fourth of an inch long, their dorsal fins are...

    Plants for Kevin: Recs?

I see- I will check around. Is it around the 12-15USD range? (I know you guys use different currency, I believe that is around 8-10 Pounds).

    Fry questions!

Okay- I was thinking maybe when they are the size of my full thumbnail? I feel like that would be too big for the adults to eat.

    Plants for Kevin: Recs?

I love frogbit too- where can I purchase this? Is it expensive? Would it coexist with the plant that FloridaChick has?

    Plants for Kevin: Recs?

I love it! Your bettas look so happy! Where can I buy it in the US?
  16. carligraceee

    Fry questions!

It is- I will grab some pictures and use my thumb for reference. I have had several fry be slurped up by my platys. I watch them chase them whenever I first find them. I tried to release my last batch of fry when they were similar size to this one and one of my platys immediately went on the...

    Fry questions!

Hello! I currently have fry babies (one is for sure a molly but the other two might be platys). I was wondering when would be a good time to put them in with the adults. As of now- they are close to half an inch (I would guess a bit larger than a fourth of an inch).

    Plants for Kevin: Recs?

I live in Denver, so is it allowed? I would love something that grows freely without much treatment. But I am not against having to cut off some every now and then!

I am in love! What plant is that again? I love it!

Yeah they are live but im not sure what they are called. They currently get low light and are doing fine

    Size for black goldfish

Haha okay! I think I will start with one goldy in a 29g. I am not doing this just yet but I think I might eventually do it sometime in the next year and a half. I might wait for my fish to pass away OR sell everything for some profit to start over.

Stocking Mollies in 10g & Fry Maturity

See I just don't agree. But we all have had different experiences and have different opinions.

Stocking Mollies in 10g & Fry Maturity

Does it specifically say you are overstocked? My stocking is 123% but it doesn't say overstocked- overstocked is usually above 130%. My setup is a 11.2g (labeled 10g but dimensions are a bit larger) TopFin aquarium. I use TopFin Power Filter 10, and a TopFin 100W heater! My stock: 1 female...

    Plants for Kevin: Recs?

Hey guys- I was wondering if anyone has any floating plant recommendations for Kevin, my Pink orchid betta? He deserves a little fortress and I think he needs something to jazz up his 6g tank. He has 5 little mushroom houses and a bridge on top of white rock substrate- he also has three VERY...

Stocking Mollies in 10g & Fry Maturity

I feed them 3 times a day and they grow very quickly. It depends on the amount and your own personal schedule (I feed them in the morning, after school, and before I go to bed). Sailfins are a lot like lyretails- I venture they would be very similar. Bioload would mean you NEED to do a lot of...

    Hard water fish

There is a Petco in Darlington, UK but it also seems there are plenty pet stores that would probably take your fry if you decided to go that route.
  28. carligraceee

    Hard water fish

Oh boy I didn't even realize you from the UK I apologize. Let me do some research for you- but I meant all male groups of platys. Male platys are relatively aggressive. I know for a fact male mollies can fight to the death and platys are very similar to mollies.
  29. carligraceee

    Hard water fish

Petco, Petsmart, local pet stores will take em. Facebook marketplace is a good place to sell them as well.
  30. carligraceee

    Hard water fish

I would not recommend an all male for ANY livebearer. They are incredibly aggressive. I recommend, always, to do a male to female ratio (1m:3f). Fry are easy to get rid of, LFS will take them, you can just let them be eaten, you can sell them, etc. Females are sometimes more aggressive...

Yay! Okay- I think that might be my plan :) Thank you for your help, I am excited now!

    Size for black goldfish

So I used AqAdvisor and it said I can happily fit one goldfish and one bristlenose pleco (I have always wanted one). But it says I should add more filter capacity (it isn't in all caps haha).
  33. carligraceee

    Size for black goldfish

Hey! I believe that is what they are! I love them (they are so unique)! I personally enjoy doing water changes- I love cleaning and taking care of my fish tank. Do they need specific gender ratios? What filter would you recommend (I would probably pick up the TopFin 29g tank kit). And how much...

    Size for black goldfish

Hello guys! I want to, eventually, sell my 11g for a 29g. I want to stock it with however many black goldfish would fit inside. You know, the ones with the really big eyes?? I used to have one as a child and I want another sooo bad. Of course- I would wait until my current fish children...

Stocking Mollies in 10g & Fry Maturity

I don't agree with the first guy to respond (and thats okay!). I have a 11.2g tank that has four mollies and three platys who have grown so much and have reached adult size perfectly fine. It depends 100% on the type of molly you have (I have normal mollies). Lyretails can get pretty large but I...

    Questions about Molly/platy fry

I agree! Platy, molly fry tend to be longer in size when fry and they also tend to be different colors as well.
  37. carligraceee

Is my platy pregnant or chunky ?

Hey! So if I had to guess- I would guess within the next few weeks. My platys always looked like this for 1-3 weeks before giving birth. She will get very lethargic and will hide away- they are also known to not eat too much when they are ready to give birth. The other fish WILL stress her out...

How can I add more fish without overstocking?

SeaChem is great! You sound like you care about your fish- if you need help, don't hesitate to reply to this thread again.

    Questions about Molly/platy fry

Do you have pictures? If they are orange- they are likely platys. Silver/black/mixed colors could be mollies, especially if they are longer bodied as well!
  40. carligraceee

How can I add more fish without overstocking?

Okay! You can also try getting API's PH helper. They have one that helps keep the PH up and one to bring it down. Just test regularly and if the ammonia and nitrites are too high- do bigger water changes.
