Decided leaving him in there another night is a bit too much of a risk so Ive put him in a small fish bowl with a heater until I can get to the shops tomorrow to get him another tank.

One of my new females is a bit of a bully despite being smaller than the others. She constantly flares and chases anyone who comes near her. She is also a much darker colour than the others and looks somehow neater than the others do. The pics have brought her colour out more as she is more of a...

Is it a low VOC varnish as this would be less risky? Personally I wouldnt risk it coz the chemicals that will leak out of it may well kill the fish.

Its illegal now to put normal sockets in bathrooms coz of the risk of electricution so be careful lol! If you have kids Id say its definitely not worth the risk. Regardless of the health and safety issue of the sockets I reckon it would look great. :good:

Firstly is it safe to have normal electrical plugs in the bathroom because of the steam? My girls tank is infront of a mirror and they just ignore it! He may well flare at it for a while but then thats good excercise as far as Im aware and he will probably work out its just his reflection after...

Sounds like a good set up. :good: I personally prefer filters in my tanks as Ive found doing so many 100% water changes can cause stress to the fish. Id let the tank cycle for a good few weeks then do a 50% water change before adding him. Remember to show us the pics :nod:

I went to my local Pets At Home today to see if I could find any female Bettas and was suprised to find a tank with about 5 females and a lone male all swimming happily together. I questioned the staff and they said they always do it and that so long as there are several females to the one male...

I think it happens coz at the bottom of the page when reading a post there is a list of similar topics. Sometimes Ive gone on to read these and nearly replied but fortunately realised in time. Its a very easy mistake to make. :rolleyes:

In that case I will put the original filter back in. I only changed to foam coz it was going to be a breeding tank for the Betta Imbellis they were supposed to be lol!

Ive got one of those double sponge air driven filters which is pretty good and I do frequent large water changes so I should be ok. Just need to find some now as Ive never seen females round here.
