hi peeps,i have what I am almost certain is beard algae,i have loads of it in my tank as I thought it made the tank look more natural.but its gone to far now lol. was just wondering what is the best treatment to put into the tank to get rid of it to kill it off????as in one that actually...

as topic title,i got an airstone in my tank at the mo and i dont like the look of the pipes etc.....my external filter is pumping into the tank and i got the bars just under the water,i have ripples on the surface of the water but not much,is that enough to put oxygen/air into the water? cheers...

just one question,what happens when you get over run by assasin snails after adding them to kill the pest snails???? i got loads of malaysian trumpet snails in my tank and i used a snail treatment for over a week using 2 bottles at the proper doses,where it killed loads of them.there are still...

what i mean is if i know im taking out 40 litres can i treat for 40 litres with the tap safe or do i put in the treatment for the whole tank which is 300 litres?i have been doing it the first way and putting in the right ammount for what i take out. thanks again fluttermoth. chubbs

i was doing between 4 and 5 and was going in less the 12 hours. chubbs what will happen if i add fish and plabts like it is now? chubbs

the cloudyness goes in about 2 hours,its like im putting smoke into my tank when i add the ammonia,its nver done it before which is strange lol.my nitrates are between 80 and 160 on the API test.but that was done straight after the 90% water change,should i wait longer to test it? chubbs oh...

hi there my tank was cycled,so i done a 90% water change and then i tested for nitrates which are still very high and dont know why???also i put ammonia in the tank as it says to till i stock it with fish and it made the tank really cloudy....why did the ammonia do this and why have my nitrates...

i got some waterlife 7.2 buffer for now to see if that works. if that fails i use bicarbonate of soda :).any bicarbonate of soda work then???as in there will not be any with additives etc? and when you say add a little at a time,how much is that? my cycle is still working but slower. cheers for...

realised i had an air lock in my external filter,so wasnt filtering properly for 2 days.had a power cut :(. but filter working ok again now.hopefully that was something to do with it? chubbs

right bought an external filter and it has 2 nets of activated charcoal in one of the trays in the filter.i got told to wash the charcoal clean before i use it.well i have been doing it for about 20 mins so far and is still rinsing out black.do i need the charcoal in the filter or can i swap the...

as it says peeps,my tank is coming on saturday and i will be doing a fishless cycle...should i add plants from the start (i would rather wait but whatever is besti will do) or just wait till the cycle is done and i add fish too.i will also be getting water from my mates cycled tank to,to speed...

i have ordered sand for my tank,and what i want to know is if i use the vacuum to pick up the fish waste and food off the bottom,wont it pick up the sand to???if so what other way is there to clean it up? i have purchased the argos play sand so is quite fine. thanks in advance for any help :)...
