most snails are fine, never had problems with them together. shrimps are usally fine too, small ones may be eaten, so stick to bigger ones ghost shrimp usally work. bettas are great options too. and any small top dweller, sparkling gouramies, killi fish, anything thats not aggressive, can fit...

depends on what your views are of oddballs, but bumblebee gobies usally do will in communities, providing they get enough food and have plenty of space to hide. killifish are community fish too usally. some are more suited than others. as you said, most oddballs are aggressive and dont do well...

cories need to be in groups of no less than 3. the more the better, all corys will live happily in avarage communities.

i know theres a diver in there, but with all those fish, one will probally go unnoticed for a while, and i doubt they will sent a diver in there for just 1 fish out of thousands.

pygmy cories is used to describe all the dwarf cories usally, the picture posted from coryman isnt whats known as Corydoras pygmaeus. its a different species of dwarf cory. C.hastatus i belive.

the picture from coryman isnt true pygmy cories. Amerce pictures are accurate not the best pictures, but one of my C.harbrosus and one of my true pygmy cories.

brine shrimp is fine. daphina, bloodworm, glass worm are also good. pellets arent so good IMO. too big and "square" hard to swallow.

pygmy cories would be a good option for tanks like yours, they will still need caves and other hidy-holes to feel safe. a group of 4 -6 would be good.as for creatures to keep the filter alive, an apple snails. they are hugh waste producer so should produce plenty of waste.
