    Water Change Question

Fish stores in my area are kinda primitive...they don't even use nitrate tests so I had to bring my own. And I found out that the water they sold me before was already used...from their own fish tanks. Grrr! I was able to find fresh, unused natural seawater from the store next door.

    High Nitrates

Thank you all for your suggestions :) Unfortunately I couldn't find any algae or saltwater plants in my LFS. I will keep looking though! Just an update.... Did a 100% water change today...Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, and NITRATE 10ppm. Whew! Unfornutately, one of my damsels and one of my...

    High Nitrates

I just did a 20% water change using new water from a new LFS. Hopefully my nitrate situation will improve soon. Will try to get more live rock and maybe some plants to further bring down the nitrates. Thanks for the advice!

    Dogfish?

I had a tan colored dogfish for a few days. It wasn't that big but it had quite a temper. Most of the time it would lie motionless near the bottom of the tank but when it would roam around, it would bump into and dislodge small rocks and plants. Then it would look at me and angrily peck at...

    High Nitrates

My tank's about a week old and I'm planning to do my first water change because of high nitrate levels of around 100ppm (ammonia 0, no2 at .09). It's been that way for the past 4 days. However, when I tested the water I was gonna replace it with, the nitrate levels are just as high. What do I...

But when I tested the water I was gonna replace it with, the nitrate levels are just as high. What do I do? All my saltwater (in the tank and the replacement water) was purchased at the LFS...

    High Temps In The Summer?

That's my problem too. My water temp is at more than 30 degrees C. I've only had my tank a week and am still going thru the cycle with fish and live rock. My fish have been dying but don't know if it's because of the high water temp or the high levels of nitrates (160ppm). Should I do a...

    New Fish That Are Hardy

But you're not supposed to do water changes during the cycling process, right? They say it slows down and delays the cycle. 8) -_-

    Nitrites Dark Pink

Just bought my tank a week ago. This particular tank was already set up in my LFS. I bought the whole thing complete...gravel, live rock, live coral, damsel fish, used filters. I hear having all this will speed up the cycling process. Started testing my water only 4 days ago. Since I...

    Tank Too Warm

My tank temp is about 92 degrees F. It's summer here and it gets hot during the day. The temp doesn't get much lower at night either. I've had 4 damsels in the tank for a week and they seem to be ok. Or are they just super sturdy fish that are slowly boiling to death? Should I just let...
