cool stuff

We don't have guns running rampage anymore in Oz and the country has been alot quieter since the laws were passed banning them. Without the guns there is no need to "protect" yourself from them. I can appreciate gun sporting and hunting as passtimes and there are still gun clubs here, but that is the extent of them and I personally think it's a good thing. Crimes in other areas such as stabbings, etc has not risen here on average since the laws were made, which kinda blows that theory out the window.

well they must have done something else then too Did the murder rate drop significantly the instant they banned guns? you say they still have gun clubs does that eman that the law abideing citizens still have guns? Here people will kill eatch other with baseball bats if they dont have a gun mabey australians aren't as keen to kill eatch other as americans

Guns don't cause violence. Violence is caused by people.

I once had an ex-boyfriend kidnap me for 20 hours at knifepoint. Had there been a gun available, he probably would have used that. Had neither a gun nor a knife been around, he probably would have used a baseball bat, 2 x 4, or anything else available. Bottom line is he had problems.

my small collection of swords and stuff :D :flex:

i try to say thats what bush needs to do and i get a lecture on michael moore then an ignorant remark about the canadian military

Flaming ....  To post an email message intended to insult and provoke.

To speak incessantly and/or rabidly on some relatively uninteresting subject or with a patently ridiculous attitude.

Either of senses 1 or 2, directed with hostility at a particular person or people.

if what he did isn't flaming which isnt tolerated on this site then tell me what it is,

sure i started to believe what everyone was saying about it being fake until i read his counter to all of it in which he backed up with facts

http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/wackoattacko/

i could say a lot more but i like this forum and don't want to get kicked off wasting my time on you

Have a Nice Day :)

I knew it was a waste of time talking about Moore. people that believe that moron are usually so closed-minded, they can't even bring themselves to read anything that proves Moore to be a liar.

you just keep on believing whatever, buddy. ignore all of the facts proving that guy wrong. ignore the fact that Moore has to manufacture quotes to make people look bad. you're proof that the human race is doomed.

geez, when i first joined this forum i thought everyone on it would be nice, not rude, most of them i find nice but then when someone makes one little tiny comment on somethin someone always goes crazy-like...i wonder why that is :/
i'd just ignore the person that made u mad instead of goin on and on and on about it thinkin its gonna solve somethin, im not tryin to start nothin, but its just a waste of time to keep goin at somethin thats not gonna make a difference, u know what i mean? :flex:

so, there should be no debate in this world ever? anytime someone has a different viewpoint from you, you just smile and walk away?

sounds pretty boring to me.

Hi Zanne :)

I am so very sorry to learn of the terrible experience you had with your former boyfriend. That most have been the most horrible experience you have ever gone through and will ever go through your entire life.

I truly hope that you are on the road to recovery from it. :flowers:

ya...no kidding. i personally enjoy arguing, and it just kinda urks me when good arguements are locked.

i just get a kick out of it

Inchworm,

Yes, it was a horrible and devastating experience. Luckily it has been over 15 years since it happened and mostly it seems like a terrible nightmare. If there is such a thing, I think I've come as close as anyone ever can to recovering it.

Part of the point of posting that experience was that it wasn't the knife that caused it to happen. It was the person behind it who was terribly disturbed. I feel the same way about guns and other weapons. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be reasonable and rational people without the need for violence and cruel acts such as that?

so the part in the movie where he goes through how many gun deaths there are a year in each country is a lie.... thats the only part of the movie i was talking about, and of course everybody wants to make him look like a liar, he made a movie talking about 1 of the biggest problems in the United States (guns) and another talking about the president himself, i dont blame him for wanting to get bush out

i have a friend in the navy i talk to and the only reason he likes G bush is because he gets a pay raise every year

if it takes a gun to make you feel cool and safe then i feel sorry for you all

no one needs to make moore out to be a liar, he does a pretty good job of that himself

heston.jpg

from Bowling for Columbine. where moore splices multiple SELECTIVE clips of Heston speaking, cutting out the meat of what was said and leaving a few key quotes which are taken out of context.
I suppose moore has a pretty good excuse for butchering heston's speech and removing all of the kind words he had for the girl that was killed. it doesn't change that he misrepresented (LIED) about the facts.

you say the gun-related death toll in the movie is true? PROVE IT. can't?
I can disprove it-> http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/01cius.htm

that is the FBI's website. you might have heard of them, they're kind of a big deal in America. I'm willing to bet their sources for numbers are a TAD more reliable than taking Moore's word for it.
if your main point of this discussion is the number of gun-related deaths in america, then you show me any reliable source (i.e. more reliable than the FBI) that reflect the number moore has in his movie. go ahead and let me know where I can find such info, I'm dying to read it.

your main problem here is that you're trying to argue by quoting the idiot michael moore as though he is a reliable information source. that is your biggest mistake when going up against facts.

don't link me to more of moore's BS. don't tell me this or that about Bush (it's not a tender subject for me, I didn't vote for him). don't try to tell me all gun owners do it to get a hard-on.
show me a REAL LIVE FACT that backs up what you're saying. I dare you.
