You Think You Have Seen Bad!

Yeah, those things are horrific. They've been discussed many times on these boards...

thats the worst ive seen, forget bettas it advertises goldfish are suitable.!!!! they need 100l each!

"Or you can create a cool grid of condos"

They are not F#@$%*&G toys!!

They should be banned in every single country!!

D.

The first ones not bad, I mean yeah they're small, but to a lot of people one gallon in minimum and those are just a bit under. The prob with them is that they're hard to heat and its very easy for the betta to jump out since theirs no cover.

Those second ones are just horrific though, poor creatures barely have room to turn.

Yeah, they were selling something about that size to keep bettas in at the LFS I usually go to - I was looking at them and thinking I needed something to put a snail in for a bit while I'm redoing a tank I plan to get to pretty soon, although that was obviously grossly waaaaay too small for a snail.
I wanted to discuss the subject (in a polite and reasonable fashion) with one of the owners, who was actually in and not over-busy, but I've already embarrassed my father, who was with me, at another place where we go for pet food, by pointing out that the bettas needed a water change, politely offering to do it myself when told only one person was allowed to do that and who would be in the next day, and then not going anywhere until somebody did change it.
I don't think they like me there anymore, since it's not the first time I've done something like that...

On the other hand, their fish care has improved considerably, so I doubt I'm the only one.

So I still haven't even registered a polite protest with the owners about those things, which I term 'picture frames', although I've mentioned them to various staff on more than one occasion.

Kind of make one think of the Iron Maiden devices people were locked into as a torture, doesn't it - before civilized protections were emplaced?

(Edit - still haven't found the bib Netty said she posted for me, to prevent the drooling I do over bettas from affecting my keyboard, so I'm still using that as an excuse for my typos...)

Lol, sy

That particular photo (the second one) keeps cropping up as an example of the worst. I have seen worse, about 1/3 less than what that poor betta has. If I see it again I will photograph it just to horrify everyone.

Edited: I just looked at another product by the same company, the 1 gallon (doesn't loook it to me) tank: "the cube design allows for the most space for your pet." Oh my god. I know people who keep bettas in over 20 gallons, not communities but like tanks designed around the betta, say with corys or plecs. I cannot believe anybody could consider this to be a lot of space.

Have you guys seen the iPond?

Google it.

I remember when it came out, the original product photos showed four of them, and two of the bettas were dead in the picture. Great advertising, guys, hope you get a raise.

1 gallon anything is less than ideal, but not disgusting. I'm sure we all saw the live fish keychains a few months back.
