I've been reading some topics about other people's female tanks, and I've decided I'd like to do one. Buut.... I'd like to do a more natural one :) That is, go around, get a 7 ish gallon tank, and buy all the 'boring' brown females no one wants :) Well, 4 or so. Plant it nicely with rice like plants, or maybe glue some bamboo to some slate like that asian tank a while back. Very natural, and it helps the rejected females :) Yey, this sounds fun :)

Sounds FABULOUS.

The ugly ones deserve a beautiful place to live, too. And most times, the uglies turn into the beauties afterall.

My oogleh little brown girl turned into a red. xD Imagine my suprise when I came back from a three day vacation and looked into the tank to see 'another fish' swimming where my ugly little girl used to be. Do girlies do this often? Is it a new and better (far better than those cups :grr: ) habitat, food, or what that you guys think causes it?

I think it's a wonderful idea to save some of the Plain Janes and give them a happy home, and that tank sounds delightful! Mmmm, nearly natural habitat... I'd definatelyy do it if I had the time and space still. Hehe

If I were you, I would not be such a philanthropist. :p I want pretty fishies. :hyper:

Anyways, I suppose it would work, though an all-female tank isn't really "natural" now is it? :p

Oh, so another dry joke wasted. Well, since you need two genders in order to procreate and both are found in the wild (nature), at least one male in the tank would make the tank "natural". So, as I said, joke wasted.

But there is nothing wrong with the plan for an all female "community" ( ) tank.

I say go for it. Im in the process of making a all female tank myself!

The girlies that look like minnows on the shelves, who are totally pitiful and have been waiting there for days for someone to take them home are the ones that deserve good homes if you aren't going the superficial route. :p That's what I do.

I took Millie home thinking I had found the ugliest female betta on the planet. thought she'd spend her life lookin like a minnow. Turns out she's a beautiful marbled periwinkle girly. Love her.

That's the same thing that has happened to me when i set up my community tank bettamomma. I had the ugliest little girls and with a little TLC and put into a nice 10 gallon with light, they are all beautifully colored, and getting bigger everyday!

I know what you mean. You have no idea what a lovely fish my steriotype 'ugly' female turned into. I am going back to get the other two 'uglies' later I hope.

I didn't think it was a "joke".......

Hahah, I got the joke. Yeah, some of my girls looked pretty blah, but not they're all fantastic looking! I should really get some pictures of them...

:D hehe funny joke :p not waisted cause i read it like 2 hours ago... funny! it is more naturaly to have that! i was wanting to divide one section off of a 10G and like i dunno put 4 females on one side (heavily planted BTW) and one male on the other side :p hehe that way i have a female to male tank... natural enough for ya?!?!
