Yf Can Taste The Salt..

Im liking it bae.
Whats your plans with your nano?
Also - Does anyone have any experiance with banded sea stars?
Or is my tank to small for one.

YF

dont know with the stars have a feeling they need a big tank not sure tho

with the nano i may have a deep sand bed and if they will fit have a shrimp goby pair but its only a 14 gallon

Seffie, this might sound stupid.
But what tempreture should I get the water to?
And what tempreture has the tank been kept at?

Hi Mike,

Depending on the room temp, you could either:-

heat 2 of the containers to a higher temp (maybe40) and mix with the other containers to get the desired temp, or take some of the water and heat it in a large pan to boiling then mix it with the colder containers to the required temp. Or do nothing , wait for the tank and put the water in then heat to 28.

Seffie, when the LR arrives, will it be submerged in water?
And my room is fairly warm, so I will warm them all up through the night.
Then put the heater till the light clicks off and stick them in the tank one by one.
What you think?

YF

Just be careful removing the heater. The heaters are designed to be used in water, not out of water.

When you remove a hot heater from water it can crack.

Best to let it cool down a little by unplugging the heater and leaving for 20mins before swapping to another bucket.

Cheers for that brad.
I didnt know that could happen, You learn new things everyday.

yes, it will be submerged in water. yeah should be fine, try not to stress too much. Remember, you have two heaters, so that is 50 litres of water. Saturday: heat 2 x up to the highest temp you can get, put a duvet or the like around them and then heat up the next two.

Sunday:
When the tank comes,
put all the water in,
turn the power head on
Put the rock in along with livestock

(if by any chance the 100 litres doesn't go high enough in the weir to allow the spray bar to work, take the heater out of the back and put it in the display tank until you have enough water to completely fill the tank - however you should get a 20 litre displacement, so don't think this will happen)

Plug everything else in and stand back and start thinking about your aquascape and do a bit of rock watching :good:

are you talking to me as i didnt say nothing lol

and the heater thing scares me
when my tank was half full i had two heaters running one came half out so i put it back in and crack then i heard a buzzing sound so stupidly grabbed the cable and pulled it out the water

luckily it did not shock me
and luckily there was nothing but actual mature live sand which was then presumably dead with the shock an all lol

Haha.
And seffie, im getting 125l ltrs of water just incase.
Costing me £20 so I carnt moan with that.
Can I just plonk the corals etc straight in at the front of the tank?
Just like putting an ornament in?

 we don't go in for plonking things in, in the salty world :p we carefully place and then move them around six times, then put it back where it was in the first place
