Yet Another Pregnancy Question

LOL Found a few more in the big tank and she's got 13 in the trap with her now. I think that's 27 now? I kinda lost count as to how many I've put in the nursery tank. They certainly seem much happier in there. They are swimming around instead of hiding. :)

Hopefully one of the non-chain LFS's will take them off my hands. I think from now on I will leave the mamas in the tank and let nature take its course.

Yeah, it would probably be easier that way. But I bet it was a great expirence seeing how many fry you had. :)

Oh, yea. It's been a lot of fun!! Even my nasty attitude 15 year old got into it. LOL

You know that gives me a good idea for how teens can earn money in a safe way.. Breeding fish! Although the parents would have to do the selling.. but the teens could take on the challenge of careing and raising the fry and adult fish. Hmmmmmm

Hmmmmm.... He'd like that. LOL

I pulled Lady 1 from the trap and let all the lil ones go in the nursery tank and put her back in so I wouldn't feel like I needed to watch her so close anymore. She had gone about an hour since the last birth. She still has a gravid spot and what looks like eyes pretty close to being born, but I was worried she was getting stressed, so after about another hour of no babies I put her back in the main tank. I've got 40+ fry in the nursery, so more than enough. LOL I won't be surprised if another platy or two shows up swimming around in the main tank before long.

I've had a great side show while watching the laboring mom. My clown loaches are still going nuts over the new tank layout. So awesome seeing them so active. :D

Yeah 40 is a lot, I hear a fish could be into labor for up to 10 hours depending on the fish. But you were probably right she was probably getting stressed. Now the really fun part starts, they grow!

It makes me feel like im a kid again watching the butterfly come out of the cocoon except its fry growing :) I bet it is fun watching your loaches, wish I could have a couple of thoes myself but they would be mistaken as earthworms if I did. How big are yours?

The loaches are about 4" long each. I've got 5 of them. They truly deserve their name. LOL

What is your setup?

I have a few tanks.. my 60 gallon, two 10 gallons and one 2.5 gallon.

60 gallon:
2 senegal bichirs
3 gold gouramis
1 oplain gourami
2 kissing gouramis
1 african leaf fish
1 african brown knife

10 gallon: 3 female guppies 2 male guppies 1 male betta

10 gallon: 2 gold fish

2.5 gallon: 1 female guppy hospitalized.

My guppy tank I am using for breeding, so if I got any loaches I would have to put them in my 60 gallon but they will be mistaken as earthworms and hunted at night.. maybe when the senegal bichirs get a bit bigger it might be safe since they will be slower.. (their both 5 inches right now)
