Anyone ever seen this before? Just looking at my tank and noticed that one of my male ones had a sort of lemon coloured stripe right from the start of his dorsal fin down to his mouth, dead centre.

Is it a disease or just colouration? I've never ever seen it before :/

(On another note, just got all my seapets stuff, arcadia timer thats really easy to use! and a little book that i have yet to read, along with shampoo for my dogs dry skin and a motorised ball, reactions are so funny!)

Its perfectly normal. The males display this yellow stripe to get the females attentions when they are ready to mate.

Rainbows are amazing, mine change colour so much. My lake kutubu rainbow, the big one, which I am assuming is the alpha male has a bright neon blue stripe down his head, a bright blue body and black fins. He looks so cool, all the rest are all different shades of blue.

also 1 of my neon rainbows has a yellow stripe on his head, I am assuming this is the alpha male of the group because I have 12 rainbows in total, 2 species and only 1 of them has the stripe.

Yaaay :D I always thought the bigger one was the alpha, his fins are much brighter and he is much bigger, and he has a more definite rainbowfish mouth :)

I love how much they change colour, they change every second when I'm watching them at night. It's so wonderful, and they play with the harlequins aswell which i adore, i always imagine the harlequins to be a group of little naughty children and the rainbows to be the childminders :)

haha. Like I said I have lake kutubu rainbows and dwarf neons, the kutubu's are a fair bit bigger than the neons and they all school together which looks brilliant. They look like they actually play games! the neons will chase the kutubu round the tank, then they will disappear behind the plants and then coming out the other end the kutubu will be chasing the neon... its not aggressive at all though, its almost like watching children play.
