Ive been trying desperatly to get my 360 on line but it I didnt realise it would be such a faff about. I bought an RJ45 cable as instructed by the nerdy guy in the shop and bought the gold membership but I just dont know what to do.....everyone started talking about 'Router's' and god knows what else so despite paying £40 for the card Im on the verge of giving up trying to play on line.

I dont want to store music and pictures etc on my xbox as I have a pc for that I only want to play games on line but I doubt I'll ever understand what all these people are telling me.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do....and dumb it down for me if you can.

Their are a couple ways you can have your x-box set up.
Keep in mind you MUST have a HIGH SPEED INTERNET

One way is to just use you internet cable that you use for your PC and just plug it in the x-box.
Another way is through a router. Most come with simple directions on how to install and get running. You dont need a wireless router which usually are confusing to people that dont have much experience with computers. Once you have that set up you again just run the wires that you bough to the back of the X-BOX.
Also have you tried calling the X-box help desk?
1-800-4 My XBOX Atleast that is the number in the US. *LOOK ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BOX*

good luck, i hope you get it working.

Cheers Josh, we are with an company called white cable for our cable tv, 1 meg broadband and phone (its and Ayrshire company as we cant get any other cable tv here....and they are pish!)

I tried plugging the RJ45 cable from the 360 to the back of the PC but that didnt seem to work, we tried taking the same cable out the cable tv box and that failed aswell.....and almost made me miss the England game coz when we tried to put it back the tv didnt come on, we phoned and played hell with them but turned out the ariel had fell out!

Sounds like Im going to need to get a seperate router (I dont actually have a clue what one is, the guy in my local games shop told me about them but he went on about all sorts of things and gave me the impression that he not only spends a GREAT deal of his time playing computer games but has probably never kissed a girl......nerd)

ive got it. i mostly play

PGR 3
Table Tennis
Fifa RTWC
DOA 4

my 360 is plugged straight into my router without any problems works great :good:
