Wow! Now This Is My Dream Aqaurium!

While I appreciate the wow factor of a tank like that, keeping whale sharks, which are ocean wanderers and cover thousands of KM/year is just plain cruel.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree...The length of the tank looks to be just over double a full grown whale shark's length!

That tank actually looks too small to keep 4 whale sharks in. At only 10 meters (32') deep that seems shallow, not to mention too short/narrow. And that only calculates to 2.5 million gallons. I believe the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta was the first to house whale sharks (also 4) in captivity in a 6 million gallon tank. They did have some issues and lost 2 of theirs but I believe have since sorted things out and replaced them.

I visited it in June of 2006 (opened in November of 2005) and it was a wonderful sight to see. We took the behind the scenes tour and were lucky enough to be there at feeding time and got to see them feeding the whale sharks.

Awesome looking tank but I have to agree with a slight cruelty factor. The best seafish I have seen were at Discovery Cove in Seaworld, Florida in their seawater lagoon. The rays were awesome not to mention the barracuda thatscared me half to death behind an underwater screen!!!

I wouldnt wanna be standing there when a crack appears from the glass ><
