would a air stone (12") be ok if i had

if i had enough bacteria in the gravel to clear up ammonia would i be able to have a couple of 12" airstones ghoing to get oxygen in the tank?

i dont think bacteria in the gravel has something to do with air pump.

ok..i think ur main concern is to have oxygen in your tank.. I think u dont need an air pump if your filter makes the surface of the water move... if not, then u may put airstones...why not?

no i dont mean that ok ill explain
If i had enough bacteria in the gravel to clear up ammoniaand other stuff would i be able just to have a couple of airstones in there to provide oxygen

i just said yes....why not? i still dont know what is the connection of the bacteria converting ammonia, with the air pump(to provide oxgen)

No, a filter is required to get rid of waste. The gravel bed is not enough in most tanks as the majority of the bacteria lives in the filter media.

Also, filters do not oxygenate the tank, as I explained all you need is a little surface movement for that. Therefore, there's no need for 2 12" stones, one small one will suffice for that purpose.

That's exactly it!

do that if you want your fishes to live longer... and who would want to live in his/her own pee..
so get a filter and your fishes will love you.
