I just wanna give a warning, buying cheap powerheads like I did, its not worth it, here's why!!

1) they come foreign plugs.

2) their leads are short

3) they aren't as powerful as they are sold as

4) due to the combination of 1 and 2 the powerheads always get caught and unplug themselves very easily (because the adaptor for our plug socket is crap)

I recently moved to Koraila - fantastic powerheads and worth every penny, I'll be replacing ALL of mine, fed up of waking up to find the powerhead off and bo water movement!

Just a heads up for newer members!!

I totally agree re the really cheap ones, utterly useless keep stopping, getting jammed, unplugging and huge blooming things. There are alternatives to Koralia that I have found good though, powerheads called Newave they are made by the people that make Newjet pumps, and they produce a range more or less in line with what Koralia do, not quite as pretty but less power consumption than the older Koralias if you wanted to save a few quid. Think the new Evo's by Koralia are a step up though, prettier smaller and less power consumption.

Totally agree although I haven't used a cheap one but can't fault my koralia its silent and produces alot of flow. :good:

Yeh I agree HappyGeorge, there good ones out there other than Koraila but the real cheap ones are absolute rubbish!

Sorry have to disagree on this one!

I bought a cheap, nasty 3000lph PH off amazon for £9.99 and although slightly bigger than a regular powerhead, It kick's water's @ss!. I love it so much i'm thinking of ditching my Koralia's and getting another of these badboys.

Extremely quiet, no vibration, and even tho it's clogged in coraline and other bits of goo it's still going strong.

What i think you guys are refering to are the cheap 'Hong Kong Long Dong Shlong' Powerheads! Now they ARE cheap and nasty!

Agreed Koralia's are the way to go or Tunze if you have the money.

I agree I use a sun sun in my tropical ands very good a good adapter plug solves the plug issue and even when I ran them in my old marine for a year or two and they were fine

But I also run a koralia and there very good too
