Got an awesome piece of wood at an auction, maybe intended for an outdoor sculpture or something of the like? Anyways, intended to put it in my up and coming saltwater tank, but the guy at my LFS said that wood isnt a good idea in saltwater, despite the fact that it can be beneficial in a freshwater tank. Any input?

I have never actually heard of wood in saltwater.
Why would you even want it when you can have awsome rocks and corals! :hey:
Sorry i dont know if it will harm water parimeters or anything, just wanted to put a bit of input in.

I dunno, I mean, of course I want rock.. but why not have a mixed media piece of art?

Yeah wood would rot very quickly and its possible to release any contaminants etc.. It will probably effect the PH also.. most wood will make the water acidic whereas you want alkaline for salt water.
