Winter Ice Storm in Texas

I’m going through biology this year to.
Ah, it's not bad....Biology was my favorite subject in school...the dissecting part was fun, I thought...we made it up to cats...after a while, the formaldehyde smell gets old, though...but I always have found anatomy and physiology fascinating

Well, the latest (here in my part of Texas, anyway) is rainy cold drizzle, freezing rain North of here. I have been EXTREMELY lucky in that I haven't lost power, and have no frozen (busted) water pipes, because I've continued to let them drip/flow slightly during the entire time the outside temps have been below freezing.

Apparently, everyone else is doing the same thing, because the tap water pressure here (and in many towns around me) has diminished to practically nothing, we are under a "boil water notice". The city sends out text alerts and emails. They want us to turn off our water at the meter by the street, and drain our pipes, to keep them from freezing, instead of letting them drip. That means NO water to our homes until pressure is restored in our city water tank. No showers or baths, no flushing toilets, no washing clothes, etc.

Temps are expected to drop below freezing AGAIN tonight...tough predicament, this is why I choose to live in the South, to avoid stuff like this, dang it! I don't see how folks who live in winter temps like this all of the time can deal with it every year...

If all else fails, you can melt snow. Not ideal, but in a survival situation, it works. :good:

I'd be scared to use the snow here where I lve for anything but throwing at people...I live in a refinery town, pollution is prevalent...and anyway, with the rain today, it's now just a slushy, muddy mess....

It has been.below zero here for over 2 weeks. Today, so far it has hit 8°F. Even snowed about a salt shakers worth.

-20°f in the wee hours of the morning once sucks. For a week is, inconvenient. For longer than that is complete BS....haha. But, happens every year. Just glad the winter freeze showed up real.late this year, and with any luck, this was the only time Canada shares it's northern weather with us!

Whoo, a balmy 8F?
Time to break out the flip-flops and shorts....lol...I'm near the Gulf Coast, it's rarely below freezing here, for days and days...I'd rather it be 98F and 80% humidity, I can deal with profuse sweating while just stepping outside...it's how I was raised

Ever seen Grumpy Old Men?

He wasn't rooster pootin when the song says "Havin a heatwave/a tropical heatwave"...
Yep. The brutal cold you guys deal with is comparable to the brutal heat we get in the summertime...neither of us could deal with the other for very long

It got down to -15 ‘F here in Montana one night. Its been below freezing for weeks :( we still have power and water though

Ouch...good you still have power and water, though...I'm sure you guys are better prepared for stuff like that than we are
