Here is a photo of our 9 year old Pitbull Meatball (rescued from a pound) With our 8 month old daughter.

Most of theses dogs are sweethearts. They are just very misunderstood.

All he wants is you to throw a stick or log for him to fetch.

He gets along with other dogs

Only thing you should fear when around Meatball are his Farts OMG smelliest dog ever. Or if your a bear he has chased small bears up trees. I even sw him mess with a mom and cub. besides that he is harmless.

i have a rescue pit also. brindled just like yours. i agree they are the MOST misunderstood dog breed. all media hype and fear. my dog, Buddy, is a sweetheart. scared of everything. also the smartest dog ive met to date. all he wants is a nice long walk, some good playtime and to sleep under the covers! and of course FOOD!
it is a shame what a few people do to make such a loyal dog become such a prosecuted dog.
LONG LIVE PITS!!!! i will always have one!
thanks for sharing. very cute pictures :)
cheers

I cringe when I see these dogs with Children, I don't know why. I know the dog is only as bad as its owner, but any big muscle kind of dog (You know the types Rotweiler etc) that are known for being a bit random now and then, I wouldn't put near any children. I'm not looking down on you, or saying your doing anything wrong because of this, its just opinion. The only dog I would ever get if I had a baby would be a labradoor.

Lovely dogs with a bad rep...people spend months, even years training them to fight and it is not a natural response for them as many think. I had a *****, almost identical to her when our son was born and they loved each other. These dogs, like our staffies are brilliant with children and people shouldn't judge a whole breed because some people train theirs to kill for cash.....unfortunately they are now a banned breed over here so i can not keep another without breaking the law because of these people and the fools who think they look "big" training them to attack. Gotta admit i really do enjoy news reports when these dogs turn on their stupid owners and actually attack them.........teach them right for implanting it into their dogs in the first place.

It is the same everywhere if a dog attacks someone people will say straight away was it a fighting dog such as pits or staffs or a large guard dog such as rottweilers or german shepherds it is the way people just are.
I know many people who have kept these types of dog (apart from pits) with no problems at all (one was a dog handler) and have all lived great live and some are still liveing great lives lol. :hyper:
The only dogs though i personnaly dont like are small terriers and toy dogs as imo these are untrainable and people treat them more as kids than dogs carrying them around and stuff so they get aggressive and rule over there owners i would rather have a rottie than a yorkishire terrier any day :good:

Oh and brilliant photos mate love youre dog lol :good:

I completley agree.
A few yrs ago, when i was at uni, i had to do an assignment on a topic of my choice, American pits, cos over here we hear about them but we dont actually know much.
Id love to meet one, thats well trained, and i dont see why, with the proper training, they shouldnt be with children. I mean they were originally bred to be loyal and gentle with their owners and families. I grew up with a rotty, gentlest dog around, owner was tiny about 5ft, he never once hurt me. Ill never discriminate a breed cos of a few stupid people.
APBT's are awesome lol us use them as working dogs, Search and rescue, narcotics detection etc as i said before I WANA MEET AND CUDDLE ONE lol
Yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there is such a thing as going over the top, gorgeous doggy tho, how old?

like most animals, they are not a problem if properly trained & treated.

I'ts the idiot owners who should be getting the bad press

Agreed.

I don't know. It depends on the dog. We had a family pit named Tina and she has the WORST PMS case we had ever seen in a dog. Sweet girl, beautiful dog, smart ... but she would just snap and then she was all teeth and vicious and it took both of my uncles (6'1 and taller and over 200lbs) to hold her back. At one point she tried to attack my dad and toppled the entire sofa set over when she hit him at chest level. There was something wrong with Tina hormonally, but I've met labs that are equally-if not more-vicious then pits. It all depends on the dog and it all depends on how they were raised. Be warry around all strange dogs and be realistic about the possiblity of a family dog turning on its owners. It happens. Be prepaired and don't put yourself in a situation to be hurt by a dog. They are far faster and far stronger then we tend to think they are. Better safe then sorry.

But why would you take the risk with a dog like a pitbull when there are children about, I would have so much fear on if the dog turned on the baby, they are animals at the end of the day, most dogs are fine, but pitbulls are certainly ones i wouldnt chance.

I woudn't let a pitbull near me, unless it was a close friends [my mate has 2]

Then again, I have a massive german shepherd who is actually scared of flies [flys?] lol, he tries to bite at them if they come near them and then runs off.

I'll put a pic up of him late :)

i know it dirves me crazy, everyone totally misunderstands pitbulls as they just can be total softies, its just the fatc that they have a big jaw and can bite pretty hard that people are scared of them.
the one thing i cannot stand is when adults show there fear of dogs on their children
i was at the park the other day in the 6 weeks holidays with my daughter who is 4 and we have 2 greyhounds. yes they are pretty big, nut they are really big softies and wouldnt harm a fly (and i literally mean that, breeze is petrafied of flies, just like your german shepard, tropic john, she does the exact same thing! its hilarious!) and this woman at the park had this little 2 year old with her that kept trotting up to our breeze and zack and as they do they just wag their tails and sniff gently, and the girl goes to stroke her when her nan runs up, grabs her and strolls her away saying "those doggys are big and they can bite." so i casually say back that they are absolutely fine they are big softies.
come ten minuits later the girl tries to come over again and stroke them and her nan does the same still.
really winds me up.

beutiful dogs by the way they look so cute, will have to get a cool pic of my two lol. hey floyds mum, i think thats a pretty good looking grey on your dp, is it yours? its a beuty!

I wouldnt let my 2 year old kid go near a strange dog either. How would I know they wouldnt hurt a fly?
