Fish Herder
Some of you may know I have been trying to find a good home for my 6 " celestial eye fancy goldfish for some time now as I would like to break down the tank he is in, I initially had him on ebay but after questioning the buyer about tank arrangements found the tank she was about to put him in was completely inadequate so I refused the sale and got a neutral the first one after buying and selling on ebay for nearly 10 years! having learnt my lesson I decided to advertise my fish on various free websites not looking for money just a caring good home and have had many enquiries, all again completely unsuitable, just recently I had contact from someone who said they had a 4ft by 16inx16in tank, great I thought! but when questioned she said that she had 11 goldfish in it one of which is a fully grown fancy fish when I explained that her tank was not suitable and that the fish will be cramped and stunted bearing in mind commons can grow to 12" she responded that her fish are fine, well cared for and not cramped and had not been sick and if they do outgrow the tank she has a large pond they can go in! why don't people understand that regardless of how an animal is acting it may still be suffering? goldfish especially cannot show their expressions well like other animals, also if she has this large pond why are they not in it now? they will not outgrow the tank they will just become stunted so how would she know since they just stay small? I think I am going to give up trying to rehome this fish as it is quite depressing for me to find out how many people really do not have any idea to care for fish properly and to know all this suffering is going on, they should ban common goldfish sales or at least say pond only
