Why Don't People Understand :(

Just measured my Tank it is 30.5 inches in length, 10.5 inches in depth and 14 inches in height which makes it 73 litres in total so approx 19 gallons.

Sadly, anyone can tell you what you want to hear. After you give up your fish, they can do as they please - No matter how cruel or simply out of ignorance. Same as any other give away...Dogs, cats, etc.
 
IMO for your peace of mind, I'd just keep him. What's one more fish?

I decided to give one of my two gourami away because I literally had a barrier separating half of my 30g so that they wouldn't kill each other. I decided on one gourami that I would give away, took a picture of him and posted a Craigslist listing. In the listing I described gourami's, what they like and dislike and what other types of fish they would kill on sight. At the end of the listing I required that any inquiries would be required to answer three questions: what are the dimensions of your tank, what other fish are in the tank, and how often/big you do water changes. The last one was a test of fishkeeping. The other two were to see if it would be a compatible home.
 
I got some nibbles. I kept having to repost the listing many times over a month. Then finally I got one guy who a bunch of things happened with and now my gourami is going to be in the state fair.

 
So...patience is key in these things.
