Finally today after 3 weeks of cycling with food, my jeyes kleen Ammonia has arrived, time to start cycling accurately.

use the calculator http://www.fishforums.net/aquarium-calculator.htm to calculate how much you need to put in :good:

Try and get as much of the food out as possible - it'll mess up your test results

Cheers folks, I'm on it like a car bonnet. Just over 15 ml for me to 5ppm.

It's supposedly 400 but holds 290 with substrate etc.

I counted the water in myself, I was perplexed, so emptied it and double checked, It's a planted tank with JBL substrate the soil stuff under the fine stuff, which is quite deep compared to sand and it has 3d background which it quite thick in places, 2 inches easy.

your still not going to lose 110L, what make is the tank could be a 350L which when after all you have said at a push would sound right

Aqua reef 400, I'll count it out when I do my last big water change before stocking. Then count it in again.

You might be better just dosing 4ppm. Some people seem to get a stalled cycle if they overdose.

Good luck

Cheers Xraymark I was thinking along the same lines.

That calculator goes against all I've read with 5ppm, including all the guides on here

That is just the default setting on the calculator you can change it to whatever number you want

Also many suggest that you go to 5ppm for the first dose and then up to 3ppm for every consecutive dose, but opinions range!
