OK,
I a plakat in a fish bowl floating in my 10 gallon tank that houses my opaque. I was checking water, temp, ect and all of the sudden the litte glass bowl tipped over and the plakat got out...and NOTHING happened. They did NOT go at each other, fight or anything. They did get right next to each other and check each other out but did not try and fight at all. I have put the plakat back in the bowl for safety but why didn't they start fighting or even start flaring?? ( I would have pulled the plakat out if either one had even remotely started flaring.....I am at a loss here???
Signed,

just because they are 'Siamese Fighters' and 'very agressive' does not necessarily mean they will tear each others throats out. i'm pretty sure if one fish showed any sign of agression the other would fight back fiercely. i'm sure they were just discussing the tank space and wondering who could go where without having any overlapping territories, that's why Bettas are agressive. once your raised in a puddle (excuse me, rice paddie) you come to call it home, if another fish invades you either tell him he can go there and he does, or you tell him he can go there and he doesn't, so you fight him to make him go away.

3 of my most laid back, mellow betta share a tank split three ways,male/female/male,when I need to give the dividers a wash I remove them and they all swim around without even the slightest bit of aggression,it's only for a minute but still.... *shrugs* ;) then I have to herd them back into their designated areas which isn't easy
