Today I bought four white cloud mountain minnows (2.2.0) from my LFS. They're shoaling very tightly (almost mouth to tail) in the bottom 4 inches of the tank. From time to time tehy rest on the substrate for a few seconds. They're in an 18*8*12 inch well planted tank.

I'm just wondering if it's normal for this species to say so near to the substrate. I'm probably being concerned about nothing.

Thanks,
Ian.

When I first added my neons they stayed in a small group near the bottom of the tank, the same thing happened with my glowlights.
If you only added them today maybe they are nervous and just need to settle in. :)

Thanks for the reply. This is the first group of fish I've had you see.

Ian.

i Have had 4 White Cloud Minnows for about a year and ive never seen them move off the tank surface, they prob go 4-5 inches down then thats it,back up to the top again

They've settled down now. My first post was posted about an hour after they were introduced to the tank. Now that it's darker they're much more active and swimming through all levels of the tanks.

Dani and jonny-5, thank you both.
