Which Oddballs To Get?

well if you think you are going to keep rays then forget the plants

with rays they will pull all the plant up and move big rocks and bits of bog wood around

if you are going to keep arowana then its best you sort your tank in laters

aro for the top water whet ever you can find that will mix well in the mid water the the rays for the bottom layer

the mid water is the hardest part to sort out in a aro/ray tank

the pics were taken in the summer and the tank temp was hitting 92 so the only way to cool it was with the fan

when my new fish budget starts in jan the 1st thing on the list is a chiller

i used those ice pack things for picnic baskets to cool my tank in summer

the budget is fairly high

what ever i have left over at the end of each year i spend on polyfilter so i have just ordered 50 sheets

i find it best to set some kind of budget or i end up spending loads of money

Here is a filter list i gathered:
2x 2260 Canister (Eheim) - $ 249.99
1x Ecco Comfort Plus Filter 2234 (Eheim) - $ 119.99
1x EHEIM professionel III - 2080(Eheim) - $ 228.99
2x Eheim Powerline Internal Filter 2252 - $220

For rays, I would need powerheads right??
Should I get some internal filters, or maybe some sand filters?
What is a nitrate reactor, and what type of lighting should I get?
EDIT: Why would a wet/dry filter take a long time??

you chould save some money as all you really need

is 2 x eheim pro3 and 2 x eheim 2252 inturnal filters

like i said my filtration is over kill and i wouldnt add anymore filtration on your tank than whats above for the 1st 8-10months of it being set up as it will give all the new filters time to mature

the more filters you have the less good bacteria each one is getting

i wouldnt worrie about the nitrate reactor not many people use them and its just something im trying out

why would you need power hears you have the 2252s which are power heads with the added bonus of being filters

just run the tank on the filters mentioned to start then add more when your tank is well stocked

the lights are up to yous i use a normal tri-plus tubes

have you got the tank ordered yet as its only 10 to go if you think it will be with you buy xmas

ok go and buy the filters NOW you know what you need that takes no time

or is this just a pipe dream and i have wasted my time trying to help you

any way i will leave this thread now and look back on it on boxing day thats the day after xmas in case you didnt know just to see if you got the tank

i have listerned to people say they are going to get this and that and only 2 out of 10 ever happen so it will be intresting to see if you are one of the 2

have a good xmas and let santa know he will need all of his elfs to get that tank down the chimly

when you finally order the tank to be made im guessing it will take a month to be made and delivered being the holiday period so i agree go and get all your filters and everything else you will need first.

my fish budget is fair

i stopped going out and drinking a few years back due to health problems and just worked out what i used to spend on drink drugs and partying the cost of partying hard was about £100 per week

so i thought the money i used to spend would now go on my fish and my motorbike projects

at £100 per week it gave me £5,200 per year which sounded exesive so now i have finished the bike off i have halfed the budjet

and as of next year i will half it again now i have the fish i want
