I will be running 2 externals in a 4ft Or 5ft, haven't decided yet and not sure on which one, i'm now hearing great reviews on the eheim,
Which would you go for?

I have an eheim 2215 on a 3ft... And have voted tetratec. I just don't think eheim classics have the oomph needed for a tank that size. I wish I had gone for the 2217 on my tank.

I can't fault the filtration though, and it's silent enough.

I voted the ex1200 they just seem better. I'll eventually get one, but first I need a larger tank lol. :)

I know it's not on your list but have you considered the FX5.

I got one when I converted back from a marine tank (I had previously been a fan of eheim!) and I think it is great - loads of space for media and really good flow.

HTH

I have considered it but the price is out of my budget right now, maybe later down the line.

Fluval FX5 you can pick them up second hand for between £65 - £85 and dont worry about loss of flow as they dont really loose it - its all about the angle of the nozzles.

Thanks, im tempted to get it now but I know minnnt will be unhappy Lol.

As much as I love the EX1200, for a 5ft tank the FX5 would be a better choice.

Would I need to run 2 FX5 or just one?

What size is the tank going to be? how many litres??

Tetratec and Fluval Head to head.
