Where Has The Old Characters Gone....

Oh my goodness, I spend a day at school and what do i come back to, talk of dreams and CF you really do need to have a better class of dream, a pinny  Drug taking and fantasies of men whisking you off KJ, if you are going to have a man whisk you off somewhere at least make it exotic with lots of fish to look at. And then there is Colin, well what can I say, just imaging Colin in a school uniform (always had a soft spot for men in uniform!) reading his train book <Seffie talks sternly to self, get that thought out of your head, otherwise you know what you will be dreaming tonight  > And then there's my sister begging for drugs..................... what has TFF come to  but if there are any going spare I can pay you with paypal

My brother had consipation once while he was in the hospital after his motorcycle accident. They were giving him some narcotic type drugs as well.

To the point where my dad said take him off of them because he couldn't tell if he was acting weird from the drugs or his brain injury  Turned out it was a combination of both.

Metaclopramide does not work for me, was on Domperidone as it has benefits for the gastritis and reflux in addition to being anti-emetic, whilst in hospital on IV morphine followed by oro-morph I was given cyclizine and it worked. Hence they now give me cyclizine. Oh yes and I know I can be addicted to Buprenorphine just as easily as pure morphine, thats how good doctors are round here.

Cyclizine incidentally is commonly given as an anti-emetic for chemotherapy patients. I believe the difference is metaclopramide and Domperidone work on the stomach where as Cyclizine works on signals in the brain.

Very good grass hopper :ninja:!!! I like patients who take an interest in their conditions, much more enjoyable relationship develops.

Ondansetron is used more frequently in chemo patients along with Dexamethasone. Cyclizine is used for post operative nausea and vomiting and indeed it works as an anti histamine in the brain (the chemoreceptive trigger zone in the brain stem). Metaclopramide also works in the brain as well as the gut but domperidone is just active in the gut. It has difficulties getting into the brain because of the blood brain barrier.

Anyway enough of this medical chit chat how's your husband getting on with cleaning the tank .

Regards

I have the water brewing, the water change is due for tomorrow night.

Ps mom has dexamethasone for nausea post chemo but they supplement with cyclizine as the dexy was not enough. She is funny though, she calls it that dexmexty thing. I end up translating for her half the time.

Its not just an interest, I am a Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology, some of it is knowledge gained from degree, some I picked up.

Heh, I'm here in more than spirit now :). Sorry about the delay, I was off climbing Mountains in the Adirondacks :D

What do you think you are doing?? eh, Ski!!!??? Leaving your tank unattended and us, the lost few, who had no where to turn for advice when our heaters blew up or our fish started doing back flips due to some strange parasite........ You should be ashamed, this aquarium business takes priority over everything... and that includes mountain climbing and attending the emergency department . Sorry its those meds Big C gave me I keep on ranting and going into shame rages :S .

Anyway now your back can you help me with a question, an exceedingly familiar question. I wish to transfer my Euphyllia out of the tank with the halide into my Lido 120 (depth; top-bottom approx 24 inches) but it only has 2x 15watts fresh water tubes in there at the moment. An upgrade is needed, do you think 2x 55w PC will be sufficient for them (I am getting rid of the tubes in there)? I was going to at a later date add some aquarays but initially is the proposed lighting sufficient?

Kindest regards

I can answer that crazy.

I have my Euphyllias under 2x55w PC bulbs in an 18" deep tank. I have them at all levels, presuming you aim for at least the middle of the tank in a 24", I would think it was absolutely fine.

Agree with the others, it could be kept for sure, just try to keep it away from the very bottom. Most branching Euphyllia are deeperwater corals in the natural environment and are used to low light.

Thanks for the replies guys and girls!! I was aware that it was possible as I prevously kept them under 2x 36W PC in my d-d 24g but it was the fact the lido is deeper which was my issue.

Many thanks once again
