What’s new (fish related chat only)

I have 4 cherry shrimp and 2 blue shrimp in there since day one with the puffer...not a single issue. The shrimp are his size or bigger than him. He also gets a regular diet of live ramshorn snails, frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp...so he doesn't go after them.
ahh nice. Good to know.

Really enjoying how my little 7-gallon pea puffer/shrimp tank is coming along...I wish there was a little more "action" in the tank...but honestly, trying to find the little guy at times is a game in itself. A little "Where's Waldo" if anyone remembers those books.
Great looking Nano tank. You'll need to enter it in our March Tank of the Month contest which will feature tanks sized at 16 US gallons and smaller.

We got my wife a betta. Won't go into the whole story, but it's a special fish. I know better than to buy a fish that doesn't have a tank set up yet; in this case I made an exception. Today while I was setting up his tank, I had him in a cup. I haven't really slept in about three nights, lots of multi-hour driving and extremely stressful time in hospitals. I guess I can chalk it up to that, but I had Mrs. Badger's special betta in a cup, uncovered. I know better than that, too. Sometime while I was working on the tank, he decided to go for a walk. I found him on the floor, still struggling, skin partly dried out, alive but just barely. He's in the tank now, resting on a leaf, not looking great. I sure am going to feel terrible if he dies. Hope he makes it.
Well, he looks OK this morning. Even took a bit of fish food. Maybe he'll make it?

Hopefully he makes a good recovery! My fish that jumped did as well.
He still has a bit of recovering but overall he is in good health. I hope yours has the same outcome!

Sis has the little saltwater tank up. All live rock and we have a clown, two corals (Kenya tree leather and a mushroom) and an assortment of red leg hermit crabs. Sis asked for some empty shells and the worker grabbed a live snail too, so bonus. I want more corals...yikes MCS (multiple coral syndrome).

We will also be adding a squat lobster (cue B52s) tomorrow as Sis has off for New Year's (observed) and I am working...poop.

SQUAT LOBSTER!!!
A bit of music education for our younger members:

I also have to agree with our esteemed colleague @GaryE . I like your tank a lot and I will tell you why. It looks as if it’s been set up for a long time and left alone. I base that statement on the look of your driftwood with the detritus/algae growing on it. Most people spend too much time fiddling with things when they should leave it alone for awhile and see how it grows in.

@JuiceBox52 Where I live you never see true oddballs like that African Leaf Fish. That fish is a rare prize. I think that a special tank that showcases a true rarity like that is the best kind of aquarium. Even cooler is you having him so long.
He’s definitely my favorite, even cooler is that I got him for free from another fish keeper who couldn’t keep her tank anymore.

I’ve had him a little over 3 or maybe almost 4 years, the previous owner had him 6-7 years, so he may actually be older than 9, but that’s my estimate. Because time flies and I’m not exactly sure how long I’ve had him (lol)

Currently the leaf fish and my betta pugnax are the only fish in that 55 gallon.

It was moved to a new household a few months ago and left alone except for water changes and fertilizer added into the substrate. I don’t like to rescape very often, as I feel the way the plants naturally grow in together looks much better than rearranging everything all the time. I do plan to eventually get more variety of plants, and add more fish to this tank, once it is in my own home. Currently leaving it with lots of low maintenance plants and only the two fish so that missing a few water changes isn’t detrimental
