What Would Happen If The Power Went Out?

If the power went our for a few days, how should I treat the fish and the filter...? wouldn't it mean that I would have to re-cycle the tank? I'm just worried because we have these power outages lately at our house, but it only lasts for a few seconds (probably from the thunderstorms that occur so often).

Also, my tank's water is turning a bit green...is that normal? (it's green, and a bit cloudy, but the fish seem fine in there)

Did you say the power outages were only for a few seconds?? your power can go out for a couple of hours at one time and you fish and bacteria will be fine, no need to recycle your tank.

How long has your tank been running??

Do some searches. There are threads with extensive discussions of this scenerio. There are some really interesting suggestions by members in those. One I think I remember was to manually pour water through the filter media at certain intervals - it was all very interesting and definately a subject the benefits from a large forum like this...
