Completely off topic, but it always amazes me how Dutch sounds like English, except I can't understand what anybody is saying.

Completely off topic, but it always amazes me how Dutch sounds like English, except I can't understand what anybody is saying.

I know it's a joke but I do have to admit that in the Dutch language more English words and phrases are used for the past couple of years. So the English language does have more influence than years ago. And btw, nowadays children at elementary school learn besides Dutch also English.
