I want to paint the outside of the back of a SW tank. We got some paint, it worked. But then we got the tank drilled. it started to bubble and my dad ripped the ENTIRE surface of paint off in one sheet  So we got some acrylic paint, but not sure if its good for glass. I don't think we should use oil based. We used a hunter green rust-oleom for my FW, but it took like 6 coats, and we cant get it in a good color. So anyone who has painted the backs of their tanks, please help. I want to paint in like a navy/royal blue. If anyone has a tank like this, feel free to post a pic so I can see it. Also color and manufacturer. Thanks guys!

You need to use oil based gloss but mask over the silicone as some people think oil based paint eats into it

yes it would be very toxic but obviously you are only painting the outside and this should be done before water is added to the tank and allowed to fry properly etc

Blue emulsion works equally as well.
my backing is paintd blue how its not painted on the glass. I got mine from tesco ;)

Well we decided to use enamel. We used it onmy first 10 gallon, quite a while ago. We just tried to scrath it off, and wet it, and nothing happened. The acrylic on the 50 came off though...
