What Lurks In The Dark Places.

well i am pretty sure my denron is dying, its shed some of its polyps which really isnt a good sign and is looking thin. once again only time will tell.

soooooo ive just got back from the LFS and i came home with some new bits
ive got
Acalycigorgia inermis (blueberry gorgonian)
Menella sp.
Guaiagorgia sp (i think)

sooo my gorgonian stocking is starting to get pretty good, sadly the dendron gave out and died but it was always going to be a long shot with that particualr coral.

i will get more pics when they are extended.

Ooooo I've always wanted a blueberry gorgonian! Looks amazing! What exacatly are you feeding the tank with?

I am feeding with a mixture of dried D&D foods and phyto.
The foods are made for filter feeders but have a pretty napalm affect on water quality, by this I mean you pop some in and everything goes dark and descends into madness lol.

I am really enjoying this tank and am very seriously considering converting my main tank to an NPS system :)

Edit- whilst gazing into the tank watching the gorgonians sway I noticed some Tenticles opening up on the bit of rock that one of the gorgs is attached to. I am pretty sure it's Astrangia :) nice hitchiker

well i have decided that as i love this tank so much i am going to shut it down.... and convert my main tank to live on the dark side :D
it will have a little more light in it than this one but i suppose i will be able to enjoy the corals more that way.

so as i have 3 tanks kicking around i am going to ahve a swap around so watch out for new tank journals!

PS this tank (the hex) will be used in another project to either house LPS under LEDS or a zoo tank.

Righty so this one is still running but Is now dedicated to chilli corals, it has 2 chillyish inhabitants at the mo and will get more as and when I see em :)

righty so this week saw the addition of another chilli and a yellow sun coral which i am pretty sure is tubastrea faulkneri.
the chilli has yellow polyps (its my first yellow polypd chilli) but is the smallest chilli frag i have ever seen lol.

once again sorry about bad pics but its very hard to get photos of a dark tank lol

This tank is evolving nicely, whenever I am out and about and I spot a chilli that looks a bit worse for wear I buy it (as they are usually going cheap ;) ) and I just chuck it in the tank, really thats all I do, out of the bag and drop it in. No acclimatising, no placement just in.

I've found that they seem to move to where they want to be any way, whenever I put one on the rock work they just end up on the sand so I figure if they are gonna find there own place they can get on with it from the start :)

The sun is a nice one isn't it, I hope to get some more later and hopefully some dendro's

Where the hell have I been. I've completely missed his journel for some reason but I have to say I've enjoyed reading it so far. It looks awesome under the red and blue LEDs.

I think I would like to look into this in the near future. But I will use your experiences as my guide! Lol
